Schizophrenia prevents me from being religious

hello.
I want to be religious.
To observe Jewish religious law.
And I feel that my schizophrenia prevents me from adopting this religious lifestyle.
I can’t brain, and studies are key for religious observance.
I am also severely impaired regarding my physical fitness and doing things with the hands.

if you really want but you can’t, there’s no sin or fault from you.

You’re probably right @Om_Sadasiva but it’s still frustrating.

it is indeed. I understand you. I wanna do things but I can’t because of negative symptoms…

SZA helps me sometimes in this area.

I’m not religious, but i understand how it feels to not be certain if it’s your symptoms acting up, or actual magical stuff happening. I’m a witch, just like my mother and her mother before her. I find it quite hard sometimes to distinguish between ‘magical thinking’ and real magic, so I’ve had to unfortunately step away for the moment while I get better

You should be able to order recordings of your religious teachings.

Before I was schizophrenic, I didn’t believe in God. I was an atheist.

Self discipline is necessary. REMEBER religion isn’t for fun or enjoyment. It can be enjoyable to learn and worship but that isn’t what it’s about. You’ll face many things about yourself and the world you live in when trying to walk that path.

You’re letting fear and lack of control keep you from God. If you want God in your life he will make a way for it

Sz doesn’t really prevent religion. It’s a choice of faith. You’re just more perspective about it.

Start by just reading short sections of religious book, even reading without thinking has positive effect, for sure you can’t be a perfect religious man in just one day, start from somewhere and when you absorb light of god you will be able to go deeper in your religion,

Pray for us too,
