Have any of you been told you had sz/sza due to a specific gene?
Just want to start off by saying that I didnt read the article. I have for a long time believed that the most common form of sz is caused by a genetic predisposition set off by environmental factors.
I am starting to believe though, that there may be other factors at play though in some cases.
For example, Firemonkey pointed out an article not long ago about a possible cause of sz in some people being an autoimmune disorder that attacks the brain.
I dont want to harp on this over and over, but I recently had an episode where I suddenly couldnt think and got a massive headache. It, along with other things going on in my life, kicked off a semi psychotic episode for a bit. I had similar headaches when I was first diagnosed with sz. I didnt have the inability to think like I did in the most recent episode, but I had the same kind of headaches and I could feel it in my head when I drank liquids and such.
During the most recent episode I was also cognitive impaired for quite awhile.
Anyway, I think the point I’m trying to make is there may be more than one cause for sz. I still think the genetic predisposition is the most common factor though.
Yeah matey. It’s long been known that many things can mimic sz or related disorders and the stuff I’ve been reading lately basically approaches it like meds. You address the problem and even though there seems to be an underlying cause it’s not within reach of our technology and I’m moving more to it could be many things with a similar outcome.
It’s complicated but it’s interesting for sure. I’m moving more to a more flexible model for me and I’ve been pretty cut and dry for far too long to remember.
Besides genetics, i belive unresolved traumas physical or mental can lead in time to sz. And probably is a mix between genetics and certain events that trigger the begining, chemicals and drugs seem to help.
(I think now of David Bowie and his brother, they had the same genes but only one developed into sz.
This has been my husband’s research for the past 6 years. There is 100% genetics, however there are different mutations for different people. There are ~80 known genes that are common to have mutations and connected to SZ. I personally have about 20 or 30 of these mutations. We do a lot of biohacking, and knowing my mutations has been 100% what has kept my SZ under control.
It should be like cancer some thing like smoking trigger cancer and without smoking to trigger cancer
And yet, you can have identical twins with the same DNA, and only one gets schizophrenia.
How do you do that biohacking?
You made me verg curious @BioHack
@Davincii Biohacking is like computer hacking, but for your body. How do you manipulate your body, your DNA, your genetics to do something. A lot of it is guess work and trial and error. You might find a single research paper and go with that. Things get easier with the more research papers. We have found that the majority of Doctors are set in their ways.
Here is an example: I needed a procedure done. My husband found a way of doing it non-surgically using ultrasound. It took us 7 doctors that said no (they would only do surgery) and finally 1 that said yes. It worked great, and crazy enough the procedure has been around since 1985 and has a higher success rate than the surgery.
My husband reads hundreds of research papers a week and we make informed decisions about our health based on that research.
This is how we approach my schizophrenia. I have a lot of SZ mutations, so we attempt to bipass / work with the genes to get me to do what we want.
We work with a lot of health professionals to do this, but after 15 years it has become second nature.
That would be quite something to do that for a living and get paid for it.
It must you"ve learned so many different remedies.
Ps: I"m already your fan no 1
