Schizophrenia Diagnosis

After being diagnosed with schizophrenia i just saw the world bleak. Like no further, no chance of being “normal”. It is a spirit breaker. You start doubting every thought and emotion you have. And you will loose confidence of being a autonomous person. I personally believe that ok we had a disruptive experience but why is there so much emphasis on meds and why do they tell you things like never being able to work again. Who knows how you recover, i believe recovery is possible with time trust love, like in a holistic way. Not trying to sound to hippyish but the treatment and perspective seeds to be focused on becoming whole again. Maybe an ever stronger version of who you were.
Sorry for my rambelings but i needed to vent this

More and more psychiatrists in Belgium are adhering to the recovery model.

It’s expected for most people to recover sufficiently in time to have a meaningful way of spending their days.

Yes that is how it should be, its hard but it is also fulfilling. I just want to let everyone know here how strong they are. I see people with jobs, kids social lives everything. Dont let a diagnosis drag you down and doubt yourself.

I had a job, kid, social life, house, car, partner, everything, when I was younger. I lost all of it due to sza. But strangely, I don’t miss any of it. I know where my kid is at, and I’m comforted by that.

Because it is safer. Plain and simple. The risk goes up without meds and stress of work.

Its easier to give someone a bunch of meds than it is to create some form of functioning in someone with a chronic mental illness.

With that some form of meds is helpful but at optimal amounts and type for your situation.

Thats good to hear. I think in north america its not as recovery focused unless you push for that yourself.
