but it cant take our souls!
I experienced soul death on LSD. It was pretty scary stuff
Still have my brain, not so sure about the soul.
be careful with things like this…I have a mind. Not sure of the other but not promoting arguing over it all. Avoid the religion please.
Sorry not suppose to be a religous discussion
In my culture, soul means “true self, or true identity”. So to me it’s not religious at all.
How is this not religious? The entire existence of a soul is based in religion.
I feel like it took my soul away to be honest
We don’t have souls. The body is the soul. Schizophrenia can take both.
My culture has a lot of elements and folk tales about “souls”. It’s more like a ghost. We even have goblins who are mischievous but very just. These creatures like to play tricks but they can’t stand people getting hurt, so they go to punish the unjust. You could consider them souls, I guess. But we don’t actually believe these creatures exist, but nonetheless it’s fun to listen to what my ancestors thought about back then.
We also have stories about how our ancestors come back to visit us as “souls” so we make food for them to “eat”. This is not religious but more of a traditional rite. I haven’t paid respect to my ancestors but I think it’s about the “memento mori”- remember that you will die one day like those who have gone by.
The idea of a brain dead soul is pretty frightening, a sort of homebound disembodied zombie stalking us from an old family portrait.
That sounds like something a bodybuilder might say in a visible effort to increase his intellectual prestige among his fellow athletes.
It’s not religious.
Ancient Greek philosophy analysed soul
Can you explain more?
Soul was a matter of philosophical debate.
It was not only religious, but philosophical too.
Until today, soul theories are many.
It usually means essence.
Everything changes or dies
but soul is eternal.
That’s philosophy
Sounds the same as the religious â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– that gets shoved down our throats.
Yes, it’s a blurry line between them.
But talking about unmovable eternal essence
and movable nonessential part or body, is philosophy.
Soul is a true entity and the very essence of life and it’s not the body
@anon10648258 ur traditional concept about souls n rites about departed souls matches very much with our indian culture
We are very special people, I thought maybe that some sort of core part of my personality was gonna go away, but after the tuned down the medicine and I stopped getting the brain fogging dulling of my senses out of the way in -inpatient care I began to feel normal again relatively soon.
If only I didn’t suffer from negative symptoms of schizophrenia, this illness wouldn’t have done much to hurt me but then again I’d probably be suffering from the other parts of schizophrenia if I’d gotten that lucky.
So I try to stay humble. I just wish I knew a path to financial and life success where I could attract a wife and support a family.
I don’t believe in souls, but I get what you mean. Schizophrenia has taken my mind, it makes my brain rot.
