I find that rocking helps my mood
For me it’s crafting. I use crochet as a stim…I’m sure that is weird but it does work for me.
Rocking chairs? I want one
Doing productive things helps my mood.
Just remember we don’t all have autism.
I see something like this posted here and the subreddit a lot, almost to the degree that people think they are linked. Just as long as people know they aren’t…
Well I had Asperger’s first as a kid and then I was diagnosed with SZ as a young adult. Only one of them is an illness.
What is it like to have autism I’ve been told by some I have autism and other doctors say I don’t I’ve always been confused what’s your day to day like @shutterbug
And btw you seem really normal and high functioning and happy
I’ve always been fascinated by Asperger’s because of how mild it seems compared to other forms of Autism. I had a friend with it and he was a little quirky but we got along really, really well. I was surprised when I heard that in the USA they reclassified Asperger’s as just another part of the spectrum, I think some people don’t use the term anymore. I’m not sure what you’d call it instead though.
My son has Autism. My wife, a special needs teacher, is adamant that I am also. I see certain patterns and traits I suppose. Our son is high functioning however.
I’m actually not diagnosed with autism. But I find rocking really gets the negative symptoms of schizophrenia under control for mood. I still have to reduce my activities though.
I’m not autistic but find rocking or swaying to be very comforting.
If you get a chair designed for it, it won’t seem strange
I used to use my grandmother’s rocking chair all the time when I was a kid cuz it was fun and soothing. I’m not sure whether or not they’ve fallen out of style but once upon a time they were common, and the bane of cats everywhere.
Cats dont like rocking chairs??
My rocking chair doesn’t help my negative symptoms. I find it relaxing for other reasons. I actually am on the spectrum btw.
I’m diagnosed with both and I didn’t like rocking until I was diagnosed with sz oddly enough. I was more into spinning as a kid. Which I hate now.
Right then. Closing this.
