All of a sudden I am getting these spells where it becomes difficult for me to breathe. It feels like I am using a great amount of effort to inhale and like I don’t get enough air when I do. They happen at random it seems like and nothing really makes them better they just end after a random amount of time passes. I checked my O2 levels during these spells and they are normal. My pulse is normal as well. So I am not sure what is going on but it is quite scary. Has anyone else had experience with this? I do not have any other symptoms other than the breathlessness. I do not have any underlying respiratory conditions like asthma. I don’t smoke.
I had something like this for awhile. I think in my case it was mostly mental. Concentrating on my breathing too much. Breathing is one of those activities that are both voluntary and involuntary and if you concentrate on it too much you can make yourself feel like you are not breathing properly. Since all your readings seem normal, I would guess this would be the case for you.
Of course, I could be wrong and there could be some real underlying condition so I’m not saying to not get it checked out if it is really bothering you. Just giving my opinion on what the most likely reason is.
Random pains are weirdly common, in my experience of schizophrenia. They generally pass by quickly, but, occasionally, they last hours or more.
Generally, these are simply endured, but, sometimes, I can will the pain away.
I get that now and then, probably just a mild case of long covid. Is there a possibility that you contracted covid at some point but were asymptomatic?
It could be a symptom of anxiety.
I have this my doctor said it’s anxiety in my case
I would investigate the anxiety. It really can do such things especially if your monitoring and getting decent results…Anxiety attacks can be serious business.
Do you get these spells when you stand up? My friend with POTS experiences this regularly. If it’s not a physical issue, then maybe it’s an anxiety issue. I had this issue years ago and it sucked. I hope it resolves soon for you!
This sounds a lot like anxiety to me, but you should talk to a doctor about it.
Some medications, such as gabapentin, can also cause shortness of breath as a side effect.
I wonder if it is due to my recently increased rexulti. I’ve never gotten out of breath like this before from anxiety. Then again I never had excessive vomiting due to anxiety and I think that’s what caused me to become so ill at the end of my old job, so who knows.
Sounds like anxiety but I’m no doctor.
