Saw some guy lighting up

Some guy in a van smoking what looked like a joint. Almost as soon as I got behind him, I started smelling something like a mix of motor smoke and rotten eggs. Just curious for those in the know, what exactly does mj smoke smell like? I was worried at first the smell was coming from my car, so kinda got frantic for a sec.

Hopefully this topic doesn’t get flagged. I understand if a mod wants to lock it if it’s getting into sensitive territory. Joints are legal in my state, if the person has a prescription (I think.)

I’m not sure how to describe the smell, but I’ve never heard it compared to rotten eggs. I’ve heard people compare it to skunk spray, but I’ve never smelled skunk spray. Burning cannabis definitely has a strong odor, though.

Some marijuana smells a lot like skunk. I’ve smelled skunk before and can confirm some types of marijuana smell similar. Skunk smells a little worse.

That explains it then, thanks all. Boy that guy let a puff of smoke rip on me as I drove behind him lol.

Skunk spray smells a bit like rotten eggs, only more rubbery? Idk hard to describe.

It’s refreshing to hear of someone that doesn’t know what marijuana smells like. I take it you’ve never smoked cannabis?

Nah, I avoided drugs like the plague most of my life, I was afraid of screwing up my brain. Unfortunately, it happened anyways :man_shrugging:

I’m glad to hear you have stayed away from drugs. I used to smoke a lot of weed. It was mostly after my diagnosis though.

I did the same. I was a kid during the Just Say No campaign

Same here, I guess it worked on some of us. Being socially awkward and rarely offered drugs also helped lol.

I was offered Coke one time. My grandmother lived next door to a crack house. I said no

I grew up in a small town. Nearly everyone my age smoked. It was difficult not to get into the habit of smoking daily. It used to be the thing to do, spark up a joint and hang out. I never blamed anyone for my smoking. I just enjoyed it. Suddenly I would start hearing the voice of this old friend of mine. It didn’t help so I quit.

Drugs seemed to be a big problem in my hometown, which was a small town. I only learned about it after the fact oddly. But there were a ton of kids who would smoke in the boy’s room. A lot of kids were afraid of going in there, lol. Cigarettes, I mean, although crack was also a problem apparently.

I tried smoking once when I was a kid but immediately got sick from the cigarette, I didn’t even inhale, I was such a puss.

You’ve saved a lot of money then. Smoking cigarettes is an expensive habit.

Yeah I’m happy about that at least. I tried cigars in my twenties but didn’t get addicted. I enjoyed them until I started getting acclimated to them and the high wasn’t as good. Haven’t tried to smoke in many years now.

I’m in the process of quitting cigarettes at the moment. It’s my 5th day. I feel a little giddy and am craving them. Been trying to resist.

Keep it up, you’re doing great. I hope this thread didn’t tempt you to it.

My brother tried quitting many times before he stopped for good, now he’s doing great. Just gotta fill that void with something good for you.
