Sarcosine and memory

After being on Sarcosine for a while I feel like I’m having trouble remembering previous days. I remember a few highlights and that’s it.

It isn’t that big of a deal. Does anybody relate? Maybe it is helping me to forget.

I’m not a big fan of sarcosine. In my case it can trigger positive symptoms and anxiety for an effect on negative symptoms that is hard to evaluate. It has to be lightly dosed. I personally reduced to 500mg twice a day. Maybe, I will reduce even more to 500 mg/day.

Memantine 5 mg twice daily helps me.

I have to take the full two grams everyday at once for it to work it helps a lot

I find it improves my ability to remember, and noticeably so. I’ve laid in a good supply of it so I won’t run out while waiting for an order to ship.

Sarcosine has an antidepressant effect and like many antidepressants it has a stimulating effect on mind which interacts on the very unique psychotic structure of each SZ case who all are different. That’s why medications effects vary a lot depending on people. For me, I have a rather catatonic form of schizophrenia where positive symptoms look like negative ones.

yes but this stimulation happens to make my voices go away and gives me the energy to do my laundry and if i take it at night it puts me to sleep

but i can barely remember what happened if it was a day or more ago

like long term memory loss

Doctors always say I have the weirdest side effects. they say “unheard of” a lot

How old are you?

Are you getting any exercise?

22 and i get a lot of exercise

Strange - the research suggests an average of 25% improvement in cognition / memory effects.

Have you tried going off for a week and seeing if it is in fact the sarcosine, and not something else?

Are you taking any other medications or supplements?

my short term memory is better and cognitive stuff has improved yes

but i don’t think i’m going off it for a week, too many benefits

i can do my own ■■■■■■■ laundry now

So - what you’re saying is that it seems to provide short term memory / cognitive benefits and also some motivational benefits.

But you think that it might negatively impact your longer term memory.

Anyone else find this?

yess but don’t sweat. every doctor says this to me “that’s a really weird side effect you’re on a small dose i mean that’s unheard of are you on drugs?”

like every time

So - you aren’t taking any street drugs, pot, etc. - right?

no Lebo, I’m straight
i’ve gone through this so many times i could change my name to “funny side effect man”
