Im running out of medication today will be the fourth time I went to my pharmacy, they forgot to order my risperidone and only ordered my abilify, which they also forgot to order the second time I was there. Have one more day of meds left so lets hope they get it right. Have a few days of 3mg left but suppose to be on 2mg, maby can break up the tablets and use for another few days but this is not ideal.
It irritates me a lot when they have to order the stuff in.
They know I come every 8 weeks to pick up the same meds.
It should be stocked if you go to the same place every time
They usually keep a supply but not since I am busy switching and each month the meds are different. It should get easier once we settled on a regular dose
When I was switching it was a nightmare trying to get the GP to read the psych notes when things changed so I could go to the pharmacy to get my new doses.
Does your pdoc give you the prescriptions?
No get my prescriptions from an independant pharmacy and the medical aid pays for it
Ah ok. It’s different to here then! Sounds a bit simpler if they’d remember to put the order through!
Hopefully they will have them when you go back
My medication is very expensive so I am glad its covered by my medical aid, one months antipsychotics is the same price as about 6months of anti depressants
I don’t know why they’re so expensive.
Do you get branded or is it Generic medication?
I get generics, arizofy(abilify) is quite expensive more so than risnia(risperidone)
Anti depressants are super cheap expecially prozac
We’re quite lucky in the UK that we have the NHS to pay for most of it.
People think it’s free at point of use but they pay for it through higher taxes, but that works well as its subsidised for those who need it most.
I have always had generic meds apart from Latuda and Abilify before they went generic.
Medical aids dont pay for branded medicine, they will only pay as much as the generic costs, We are moving towards universal healthcare here, but its probably going to be a flop because the goverment wont run it well. We get world class treatment in private practice with a medical aid, but only like 16% of country on medical aids. My brothers in the UK and he doesnt like the quality of advice given by the doctors there when compared here and the wait time is long. Here you see a doctor in a few minutes in private and a few hours in goverment and its always top class doctors. In england he had a chest problem for six months and the doctor prescribed herbal remedies instead of sending him for an xray so theres that.
They call it a postcode lottery in England. Some places do really well, whilst others not so much.
I think the care where I live is good.
