Risperdone as Mood Stabilizer πŸ’Š

Hi peeps,

Is anyone prescribed Risperdone as a mood stabilizer?

Just got through a session with the pdoc and she wants to add 0.25mg Risperdone to 20mg Abilify as a mood stabilizer and to curb impulsive behavior.

I am very wary of Risperdone because I used to take like 6mg back in the day and it had me lactating. My prolactin was probably off the charts back then, not to mention it did jack all for symptoms.

For reference, I am SZA Bipolar type and am on 20mg Abilify.

Thanks in advance :+1:

If you’re on Abilify too, that should keep your prolactin in check.

I take Invega (which is similar to risperidone) and the leaflet says that it can also be prescribed for sza.

I don’t know if this helps you any further.

Yes, it does. Had no idea Invega and Risperdone were so alike. Thank you @anon17326926 :+1:

Hey @Schztuna
I take risperidone to control my highs and mixed episodes.
It’s really good as a mood stabilizer as well as controlling psychosis.

My diagnosis is also schizoaffective bipolar type

Hi @Wave, thanks for your reply. Glad the Risperdone is working out for you, thinking to give it a shot as well :+1:

Good luck with everything @Schztuna
The Abilify should really help tone down your prolactin levels.

I have taken risperidone while tapering off Invega. 0,25mg is a baby dose. I think you shouldnt worry about the prolactin as the abilify is counteracting that

Thank you @Newlyborn :+1:.

Yea, it’s defos a baby dose. Pdoc probs wants to titrate up eventually so that should be fun, lol.

Hope your meds are working well :+1:
