Tonight I have only been listening to music I read “into” when I was delusional…mainly Oasis and Pearl Jam…and the Verve “bitter sweet symphony” Do you listen to music still that you used to read “into” when you were ill?
i used to listen to a lot of oingo boingo
Eldamar (ambient black metal) and songs like Poison Heart and Pet Cemetary by Ramones. From my psychotic break in Oct 2016. Still listen to em. Eldamar calms me down immensely and Ramones make me feel good
My son reminded me of a song that was just remastered. He remembered the CD was kept out for a long time and recognized the cover.
Luckily he didn’t know I turned it up loud so they couldn’t hear the screaming.
I listened to music all the time during my last psychosis. The voices would tell me that songs were written for me and everything I listened to had weird this relevance to me personally,. Songs like the Cure’s Love Cats and other songs with no deep lyrical content would seem profound and full of hidden truths and deep meaning. I don’t listen to music much anymore, but I still enjoy playing guitar.
This song amplified my psychosis, my motivation and my overall performance in (mostly academic) stuff I’ve done at the time. the world seemed so harsh and violent back then.
I had such a strong relation between this song and my psychosis that I’ve used to hear it before my assessment commissions to appear more ill than I was. looking back, I haven’t really had to.
