noticed recently that it is my 2 year anniversary on this forum- i could be way more active here of course, but i realized how much more active i am during the summer… which leads me to the point of this topic:
i struggle far more in the summer time than in the winter. i’ve always been more of a fan of winter and autumn. i experience seasons less where i currently live (N. Carolina) than in the western US, but summers are definitely much balmier here! currently going through a very rough period, as i do every July, which will likely persist until things quiet down in my head with the changing of the seasons.
anyway… does anyone else think they have reverse-seasonal depression, or just struggle with their condition much more during the summer?
I have a little more stress in the summer because of so much yardwork that has to be done whereas in the winter I can just sit in and shovel the driveway every once in a while it snows
I deal with the same thing pretty much. I looked into it, and couldn’t find any real infos on it being a disorder. I did learn that sometimes antipsychotics are not as effective in hot, muggy temperatures. For me, I think it’s that plus getting more tired/uncomfortable in the heat.
Ha, I brought this up with my pdoc last session. I told him I actually struggle more during the summer/hotter temps than I do in the fall and winter. For me, personally, I think it has to do with me liking the cooler temps much more and the festivities during the fall and winter. Thanksgiving and Christmas, for example, just put me in a good mood. So yes, I know what you mean! @Stars
i’m definitely more comfortable in colder temperatures. i was raised in the west US where it is very dry so i’m much more attuned to it. the humidity and heat gets under my skin really fast. similarly, i think the country looks a lot more pretty in the autumn
No, it’s not a foreign language or a magical incantation. That was me reversing seasonal depression. Sorry, I am particularly goofy in the morning.
I don’t usually have anything I would call depression, but I am generally happier in the spring, fall and summer months. Not a big fan of the particularly chilly cold snaps that can occur in the winter. Summer is second worst, IMO, as it can get a little too hot for my liking, like this year.
I like spring and fall where you can get outside ,if you choose to, without one extreme temperature or the other. Of course, location may be a factor here. I live in a place that can get the extremes of both.
