Report says Microsoft will require SSDs for new PCs soon, but is it a big deal?

Yea I read about it this morning, they said in 2023 they will apply this.

Cheap enough technology and not the first time things are made obselete with technological progress especially when it comes to home computers.

Microsoft is working on their own version of the Linux operating system which will be compatible with all the other varieties of Linux as desktop/laptop computers sales decline. Even MacOS runs a version of the UNIX O/S so owning a desktop/laptop will be a niche segment of the general population at large. Smartphone ownership by people dominates the market.

I grew up with $2000 computers that had floppy drives. No hard drives. I actually got a loan to buy a pc once back in like 1995. It was that huge of a commitment to be a pc owner…

Yeah it’s way different now and things move way more quickly. I’m just looking forward to the new Ryzen because it looks like some huge gaming gains. I rebuild a computer every 2 years or so and I’m due to do it again…

It’s a big part of my entertainment and leisure time so it’s a worthy investment for me. Computer games can keep me occupied and engaged for longer than tv, movies or reading!
