Horror genre is getting back on big doors. There were some great movies in the past few years that were both scary and intelligent… The Babadook, Orphan, The Conjuring, Conjuring 2, Lights out, Mist, Don’t breathe, The Quiet Place…to name only a few.
Obviously, I like horrors with a psychological touch, that don’t rely only on jump scenes and special effects.
And I really watched many of them.
So im looking for recommendations. Something not too old ( say, from nineties as the bottom line)…
I see now there are two “new” Rings. I didn’t watch it.
Yeah Shining is a good one.
I told you I watched many of them
That’s why I can’t find anything satisfying these days
I think my life story would make a great Horror/ Tragedy/ Comedy.
A HorTragCom.
I really should write a book some day, but I doubt anyone would believe half of it. Highway car chases…throwing rocks at outdoor drive-in movie theater screens…trying to meet the leader of my country…there’s tons more.
My partner and mother in law watch horror movies frequently and my mother in law likes the ones about haunted places or serial killers. I sometimes think the ones about asylums or mental illness shape her views of me
I really, really want to watch horror movies, but they are a major trigger for me. I always ask permission from my husband just to check, and he tells me no. I watched Annihilation the other day, and that one really freaked me out, but I don’t think it was meant as a horror movie.
There was some really cool stuff out of England back in the 70’s by a mob called Hammer. Some really good movies with a lot of psychological horror.
I don’t think it’s one but have you ever seen the original of “The Wicker Man”. Great cast and really good movie for it’s time. It was remade recently but see the original first if possible! It’s one of those tricky endings so you don’t want to spoil it!
