Thanks! I have tried doing a car, and it went better than expected. But I’m not good at cars from imagination, need to look at reference always.

try doing this, have one picture of the top and one from side, then go into orthographic view top and side perspective and start modelling after it.

Doesn’t look to bad but yeah I can see some non-optimal shading some places. Could I see wireframe of it?

Its just a start but was having trouble with the windows and stopped lol

I usually do much simpler stuff like buildings and racing props for my game but I want to do my own cars instead of using 3d assets!!!

It’s a hard shape for sure. Are you using subdivision modifier? Your topology is a bit off towards the window, the quads aren’t evenly spaced and that’s causing some weird shading. At least I think that’s the problem. The flow is a bit off. Nice job though, things doesn’t need to be perfect imo!

I think I just use the shade smooth function… maybe subdive would be a better option? Yea …those window shapes are atrocious lol I’m gonna give it another try when I work up the energy!!

Honestly… once I get other parts of the game where I want them I’m gonna decide if I should try to tackle the cars on this one or just wait until the next game …

Yeah, I always use subdivision surface modifier for objects with smooth shapes, makes it a lot easier to have more control.

If I find a 3d model of a complex object like a car online I would probably just buy it if it doesn’t cost too much. (if it’s the exact car model I wanted).

But on the other side it’s good practice and you save money, and also can be fun, so you really gotta weigh it.

Yea …I really hope one day I can work on a team  I’ve never done that and I imagine it would feel good not having to do every aspect of the game. Too time consuming…

Yup, but it’s kind of satisfying doing everything yourself though. But yeah game dev is so much work, that’s why I don’t have the motivation for it at the moment. Done probably around 20 projects and not completed a single one.
