so i’m trying to get back into doing radio shows as i was doing shows until February, so i stopped in Feb and been taking it easy, i want to start up again and i have forgotten how to set up my gear lol, i sort of loaned out my mixing desk and i’m trying to use my blue yeti through audacity and record audio, its not illegal bc i am doing it as a volunteer for a radio station who has a license to play anything. but i cant remember how to route all my inputs/outputs.
I hope you got it back?
They have a license to play the media but you are still required to own the media you use to create the shows.
its still at the charity that i loaned it to, i can get it back any time i like, I’m hoping they use their own mixing desk & its working now as they bought a load of cables recently, I was hoping it could be used to record some of the music & we could put a track together.
I’m guessing my subscription technically is me paying for it, so i pay for it in a sense, this is how i justify it & i feel like i am doing these artists a favour bc i promote their music and sometimes i will talk about where the artists comes from & upcoming gigs.
If it’s a streaming service check the terms. I’ve yet to see one that allows rebroadcast of their music. Spotify especially does not.
You’re not and you’re probably breaking the law. If you really want to do them a favour, buy their music. I have people “giving me exposure” all the time when they use my photos without permission. I do not feel like I’m being done a favour, I’ll tell you that right now.
I do support artists, I buy music when i can, i will buy vinyl and sometimes merch.
Not going to get into it but-
I recorded my radio show this morning, we have a license to record/copy and play any music, its all legal, its a community radio station & its a charity so i cant see there being anything dodgy about that. we pay for the rights to broadcast this music, so its all paid for.
all i can say is we do a lot for the community, supporting other charities, upcoming artists and musicians, there is a lot that we do that is good, so instead of saying we are doing something wrong (which i dont believe we are) then you should look at the good that we do also.
