this really sucks :frowning: RIP

Wow :flushed:. Just saw him on cbs a couple weeks ago. Drug od??

Suicide is the rumor.

Police are investigating whether Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell killed himself, it has been reported.

The singer died aged 52 after playing a concert at the Fox Theatre in Detroit on Wednesday night.

Detroit Police are investigating the death as “possible suicide”, but say it is too early to determine how the singer died, according to Billboard.

He must’ve had MI. “Normal” ppl don’t commit suicide. Does anyone know his history???

Black hole sun is maybe my fav non hip hop song of the 90s

Eddie Veddar is the only frontman of the big five grunge bands still alive now. I listened to these guys so much in the 90’s. I can’t believe they’re almost all dead.

I always thought of Cornell as being one of the more stable frontmen of the grunge bands. Cobain and Weiland were both diagnosed bipolar. I don’t think Staley was ever diagnosed with anything other than unipolar depression and heroin addiction.

Wow Chris Cornell was crazy talented dude…he shows his diversity of making music in different genres in his 2 most famous songs… didn’t realize he made spoonman. I’ve heard a famous cover of it. I forget by who though. Never heard the sound garden version. I hear black hole sun all the time on the classic rock radio stations.

This is my favorite Soundgarden song, though I certainly enjoy Black Hole Sun, Outshined, Fell on Black Days, among others. I never got into Audioslave or his other stuff.

omg. can’t believe it…Cornell and his music are one of my favorite singers. This is hitting me as hard as when Kurt Cobain died…

Me too. I’m feeling super unstable now. I feel like a major part of my youth as been taken away.

Very sad and unfortunate :frowning2:

R.I.P. Chris Cornell.

It seems like a lot of great artists are dying young these days.

I learned about his death this morning.
So sad.
I was not a big fan of Soundgarden but I was heavily into Grunge music.
I liked some of their songs and admired his voice.
May he RIP - Another one gone.

I honestly couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I saw the articles about his death this morning, and I’m still having a hard time accepting it. While my mom and I were driving home from my therapy session, they were playing his music on the rock channel and I started crying. Rest in peace Chris Cornell, you great man.

I usually don’t care much about celebrity deaths, but today has been the worst day I’ve had in a while after hearing about Cornell’s suicide. I went from having one of the best days in the last 6 months yesterday, to one of the worst today, talk about unstable.

I guess I’m taking it so hard because I fell like part of my youth has died. Although, Eddie Vedder is still alive, of the grunge bands I liked Pearl Jam the least. I listened to Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden so much in my youth and teenage years and now all the lead vocalist from those bands are dead.

@Bipolar_Bear yes I agree…I am grateful that Eddy is still alive but they were the least of the grunge movement to me too. I am bumping this thread because I feel a lot more pain tonight about Cornell dying than during the day. I listened to all the Soundgarden I could grab on spotify and then I listened to Audioslave too. Now I’m listening to the mellower albums by Alice in Chains with Layne Staley singing. such losses in the music world lately.

Kurt Cobains death hit me hard in the teens. Now yet another great artist is gone too soon this makes me so sad. I was really into grunge in my teens. I have Soundgarden and Audioslave on my playlists on Spotify. It’s all so sad.
