Quitting Lyrica (pregabalin)

Hi all,
I’ve been raving around here how good Lyrica is for my symptoms, some of you might remember me.
I would like now to retract all that lol.
Initially it did gave me a relief from anxiety and “emotional stiffness”, but after about two years of (ab)use I can safely say it caused me much more problems than it solved.
Disinhibiting properties of this drug can get really ugly if you are not careful. I’ve been talking and doing things I would never in my right mind. From today’s sober perspective it’s like I’ve been drunk all this time. But you have no sickness morning after or hangover of any kind to warn you something is wrong.
You think you are the best version of yourself! In reality, you are just constantly high.
Not sure what else to say…
I’ve quitted it cold-turkey 9 days ago and for first couple of days small doses of bromazepam have helped me go through physical withdrawal.
Now I’m on my own, dealing with rebound anxiety, lamenting over those two years.
But it feels good that I’m back to the reality.

Lyrica is also for neuropathic pain as well. I think it might work similarly like gabapentin.

You are correct, gabapentin (neurontin) and pregabalin (lyrica) have almost the same mode of action. Lyrica is supposed to be stronger, dunno

I was on 600 mg a day and had the same experience i weaned of during af week. It took a month before i became as normal as i can be. I never want to go back.

I think it’s a very overrated drug supported by a very aggressive marketing. I rather have back pain, than Lyrica.

I was on 3600mg of gabapentin a day for 4 years for nerve pain and so slight hope of mental help. I fell asleep driving. So because it did nothing anyway we just cold turkeys it and that was that.

I feel the same about Lyrica. Never again!
A month pass quickly… hope it doesn’t take longer…

Just beware of seizures if you quit cold turkey. I have heard they are a possibility

I am on 200mg pregabalin and want to stop. They made me put weight on too

ALSO it’s NEVER a good idea to quit lyrica/gabapentin cold turkey because it can make you have horrible side effects as well as adverse effects.

Yes, very bad idea.
I guess that without those small doses of bromazepam things might went horribly wrong.
Seizures, heart problems, there’s a lot of horror stories out there.
Due to the lockdown in my country, I was unable to go to the pharmacy and I decided to just go with it.

are u on any other medication now?

I’m supposed to take small doses of aripiprazole and duloxetine, but I stopped that even before.
Not sure what to do about that… everybody says take your meds but my life was not good on them.
No psychosis for 5 years and I have strong support at home… I’m also going on psychotherapies online…
I’ll see with my pdoc next month or whenever this lockdown is over what to do
