Anyone had experience or know anything about this med?
Yes i was on 600 mg for anxiety, it helped a bit, but not that much, i feel better without.
Be careful - it’s also considered a drug that enhance other drugs, and i was addicted to it, and had abstinence when i stopped, for a month.
I am on it, just 200mg. But here in Britain it is now a scheduled drug - people abuse it
I am not sure how I feel about being given a pain killer for anxiety
People go mad for that stuff round here - usually snorting it up their bloody nose. Couple of EUPD sufferers i know have it - and they never take it properly as directed.
No way in hell would i go on that stuff.
I am pretty desperate for something to work so the bar is quite low for me at the moment
Oh yeah mate - wasnt having a go at genuine people like you that need it. Suppose theres just too many druggies i know round here that abuse it.
not really a pain killer like an opioid, but more like a nerve pain med, i think it helps anxiety by increasing gaba in some way but not in the same way as benzos
I was on 600mg for a while, during rehab.
It gave my a Buzz, but I know they were using it as a seizure control precaution.
I wouldn’t want it every day.
I have been told to give this a chance and stay off diazepam if I can.
Seems weird to me as I have been taking Diazepam for years
When I took drugs years ago there wasn’t really many people abusing prescription meds. We always took the illegal ones.
Yeah True - I was no saint either
I take gabapentin for anxiety. It’s in the same family. I’m trying to quit it now, because it has side effects I don’t like. I absolutely needed it for a while, but it is dangerous. It is highly addictive, and you build up a tolerance fast, so you end up wanting to take more and more. The side effects that bother me are weight gain, shortness of breath, and insomnia (though most people sleep better on it).
Statistically, no medication is effective long-term for anxiety. CBT works much better, but it also takes a while. I think taking anxiety meds can help immediately, while you learn CBT exercises. They come with a lot of risks, though. Almost all of them are addictive.
If you don’t want pregablin, you could ask your doctor about taking benadryl as needed. It can work as an anti anxiety med, and it’s OTC with a much lower risk of addiction.
if you’re dependent on diazepam the pregabalin can probably prevent withdrawal but it comes with other side effects and its own withdrawal if stopped as well
Oh yeah, big time. I’m super duper depressed and my head is killing me. I’m on day three. The withdrawal sucks.
i took it for severe anxiety but stopped it bc of weight gain and i felt i didnt need it anymore, i started thinking it was not helping, i’m glad i stopped it when i did, had some withdrawal but not too bad.
I was very depressed when i was weaning off the drug, my mood began to better after a week or two, i had an upset stomach, pain, but it’s worth it. After a month i was feeling as good as i can… I hope you succeed
I found it easier to come of diazepam than gabapentin.
Nb: I take pregabalin now. I find it useful
I’m on gabapentin and only take 300MG twice a day and an extra 300mg as needed. I do get used to it and it doesn’t work as effective but notice that when I don’t eat with the med, it works a lot better. Horrible withdrawals for me are depression and catatonia (which I guess can happen if being discontinued). But I rarely take the extra 300mg and used to forget to take the med all the time.
