Quitting lamictal

I’ve heard that quitting lamictal cold turkey can cause seizures but I don’t think I need it anymore I’m almost :100: convinced I don’t have a mood disorder

I was depressed for a long long time tho I will say that

I’m on lamatrogine 100
I don’t know if it’s done much I may be a little calmer if come off it but worried I might be worse

Yeah I might be wrong and I’m a bit scared I’ll become depressed again

Lamictal is the bipolar depression side of things it treats the depression associated with bipolar

They say if you take it for seizures you might have one but if you take it as a mood stabilizer you can just stop it.

Lamictal is a weird drug that must be tapered off or increased very slowly. If you do not it can cause a serious side effect that includes a rash and swelling of the mouth. If this happens you can never retake the drug again. Never change a medication dosage without a doctors approval.

Yeah I’ve heard and was warned about the rash however that’s probably true because going from zero milligrams to 350mg would be a big jump

Are you on lamictal is that how you know this

Yeah that’s an extreme drop. Your body will react poorly most likely. It’s a weird drug for sure. Frankly most meds do need to be tapered. In some cases people who stopped it suddenly did have seizures when they didn’t before due to lamictal. It’s a serious enough issue that doctors don’t like to play around with this med.

Idk why I’m even thinking the way I am but I’ve been on lamictal as a mood stabilizer for about 7 years I think

Hey if it works for you I wouldn’t mess with it. But if you want to try off it, then talk to your doctor. It’s not wrong to stop taking a med, but you need a doctors supervision.

A part of me misses feeling invincible and believing I could cure cancer or that I exposed the governments plot to keep people sick and stuff like that and I’m going through a rough time with my mom being sick
