I talked with a therapist in NYC 4 times, and he suggested that I had PTSD based upon the things that were working for me.
But, I don’t have flashbacks and stuff. So, my psychiatrist told me in New York that I don’t have it, despite me mentioning that the therapist thought I had PTSD.
Can you have it without flashbacks and what is it precisely like to have PTSD?
Yeah, this is probably what the psychiatrist meant.
I can understand why the therapist may have suggested I have PTSD, based upon some techniques he was using that were working on my anxiety, but it was probably misinformed.
Incorrect. PTSD is when you go through trauma and relive it in some form in the future and it disrupts your life. PTSD can absolutely be caused by a single event, PTSD caused by repeated trauma is generally called CPTSD.
Flash backs aren’t always the obvious kind you’d see in the movies. I get those too. But I mainly get emotional flashbacks, a sudden mood swing triggered by a trauma trigger that makes me feel emotionally unsafe
I can relate… Im pretty sure I have cptsd. My therapist and I are gonna start trauma therapy next month. Hope it helps… I walk around like a kicked dog
