Psychosis or schizophrenia

I just learned that schizophrenia and psychosis are 2 different things, I personally suffered psychosis from drugs but I have no positive symptoms at all, only some stressful thoughts here and there for 3 years, is there a chance that I will finally get better?

I’ve heard that the prospects with drug induced psychosis tend to better if people quit drugs.

Are you taking AP’s ?

@Winston

Psychosis is a symptom of another condition. Schizophrenia is a diagnosis you receive based on symptoms. Not the same. People with psychosis may not have psychosis one day. Schizophrenia is a life long condition.

I had the same Wintson

meds help either way

yes i take 20 mg olanzapine and 50 mg solian amisulpride

yes but i heard that the psychosis is temporary not permanent is that true?

so how can i understand if i have psychosis or schizophrenia?

I have no psychosis since te year 2010, but I still take meds

Uh, you will struggle without them or when you taper them down.

Have a talk with your doctor if you can reduce the zyprexa to a lower dose perhaps.

I had druginduced psychosis too, but it came back even without drugs, more worse, harder.

Good luck @Winston !

Your doctor. They are the only way to know.

There’s always a chance, but if you are currently on antipsychotics they are likely the reason you are better and that your symptoms will return when you go off. This is a discussion to have with a doctor, really.

I have had “temporary” psychosis for over three decades now.
