Psych Ward Strategies

I’ve been in a psych ward a couple times. Also known as a mental facility. One time for a month straight all I did was walk around in a circle. Another time I threatened to kill someone because I was coming down off an antipsychotic and the doctors wouldn’t give me anything. Another time I stayed awake for a week straight. If you end up in a psych ward you probably quit taking your meds or you attempted suicide. Once you are there you need to find a med that works for you and talk to everyone about life. Just don’t ask other people what got them in the psych ward in the first place. Maybe play a board game or 2. It can be a good experience or the worst time of your life based on how you make it.

Sometimes there are people in the C-Unit (good adults unit) that shouldn’t be there. One time there was a guy who pee’d all over the day room and didn’t tell anybody until they asked about it. He thought that was hilarious…

Some people like to trigger people. One guy got up early in the morning and pushed all the furniture against the wall in the open day room. He woke me up and asked me what I thought. I was just so tired so I was just like, “cool.” Then the next time I saw him he was very quiet. (Was sure he was attempting to hypnotize me by creating triggers)

Another guy just pissed me off for some reason that I don’t remember and I almost got sent to the A-Unit (bad adults).

The only problem I had in a psych ward is when I was trying to sleep and my roommate was making a lot of noise. Other than that everyone was pretty respectful. It makes me want to work at a psych ward.

Most people are nice there. Those were the only instances that I had issues with people personally.

I was in a military psych ward. They have moles in their that try to make everyone miserable, so they never want to go back. The mole was in prison and they let him go to the psych ward to annoy everyone. I told him I would take over for him and he lost his mind. He started pushing the fire alarms and asked for a switch in front of everyone.

Asking to be hit with a switch?

The switch where I become the mole.

The docs put the mole on depakote and he gained a bunch of weight. He was something else though.

lol That’s hilarious.

I always suspected moles in the psych ward. The last one I went to there was a lady who just didn’t seem right. She worked there as some sort of doctor or something and she met with me and I always had the feeling she was looking at me. One time she left the day room, looked back (not directly at me but in my direction) out the window and kept walking without any actual time to see what she was looking at.

Looking back on it I’m certain she was trying to get something from me.

I just keep to myself in the psych wards. But usually I make a friend while I’m there, one that comes to me since I mind my own business.

I’ve had plenty of bad experiences at hospitals. I do know that it’s always in your best interest to be on your best behavior, if you become angry or aggressive towards someone else, you run the risk of being restrained. They don’t care if you were unfairly treated or someone triggered a certain response, they don’t ask. They just take you down by whatever means necessary and tie you up. If you refuse oral medication, they use an injection. And they will keep you in that room, tied down, until they determine you no longer are a threat to others (in their professional opinion). I have told people to get help if they are suicidal. At times I will agree hospitalization was the best option because it was a relatively safe place for me when I was in danger of hurting myself. Other times I was placed in the hospital against my will, but looking back, it was in my best interest at that point. I will stand by that. But for most patients, it’s always better to seek outpatient treatment. Do your best to address your issues before it gets to a point where you are hospitalized. Not all hospitals are so bad, some were very nice with decent treatment. But overall, you just open to doors to a variety of additional possible problems if you go to the hospital without checking your other options first.

I started asking him(the mole) about his job in the military and it didn’t even exist in military anymore.

I tried to be a loner didn’t say much the times I’ve gone but I always make at least one friend. I tend to just draw and do group times. I wish I could smoke a cigarette most of the time so I’m irritated more than half of the time. I’ve gotten in a couple of fights while in there all because people wouldn’t leave me alone. I honestly hate psych wards…haven’t been doing good lately my mom wants me to go back in I’m doing my best to avoid it.

had i been voluntary i think i would have gotten more out of it. maybe made a friend at least.

i was resistant to treatment. didn’t think much of the dx

I was only in there for at the longest a week, just 3 times. What was ur longest visit?
