Looks like weather with tornado potential is headed here again tonight. Fun stuff.
I hate having to hang out in the basement with my parents for hours. I guess I better charge my phone in case we lose power or something.
I’m not sure when threat is getting here, but I guess its supposed to last until 9pm or so.

I used to be so scared of tornados as a kid, I’d hide with my head under a blanket in the basement until the threat was over.
Now I don’t have a basement. I have gone into the bathroom during the sirens though.
It would reeeeeaaaallly suck to go have to go into a bathroom for couple hours

Yup. That’s why I only go during the sirens. Even during severe weather I pretty much stay in the living room

I heard already one dead in Iowa due to a tornado. She was ejected from her car. Not sure if I’m gonna get it here in southeast Iowa. We were supposed to, but it hasn’t started yet.
My basement is extra stinky there are cat boxes down there 
You just unlocked a core memory for me lol when I was a kid there was this family who let their dogs poop all over the basement and never cleaned it up ever. Their dogs basically owned the basement because of it.

Funny story. My 9 year old has been studying natural disasters. This seemed to terrify her which she never used to be. So after the last tornado warning in our area, which we get regularly, I had an in depth talk with her about why she was suddenly so deeply terrified of tornados.
She was in fact confusing volcanos with tornados. She thought volcanos were exploding and we were going to die in lava everytime the sirens went off. Oh lawd. 
I was trying so hard not to laugh.
So it turns out she’s terrified of volcanos. I told her as long as she doesn’t move to the west coast or Hawaii she was A okay. She is no longer scared of tornado warnings though. Everytime the warning goes off, I give her a pair of headphones and she listens to her favorite funny kid podcast just to help her get through it.
But volcanos though. I can’t hear a tornado siren now without imagining us dying from lava. 
I think sirens were just for severe thunderstorm with high winds. No tornado warnings in our area yet, so not moving to basement.

We are in the clear. All severe storms have past. Now it is just rain and some wind.
