Power of attorney

Signed the paperwork this morning. My care coordinator signed as someone professional who can vouch I’m cognitively well enough to agree to it. Hopefully it was all done OK. They never make such things easy. My oldest granddaughter will cover health and welfare if my daughter gets ill, and the youngest one finances. My care coordinator said she wishes more people would do it.

It’s really good that you have done the power of attorney paperwork for both healthcare decisions and financial decisions.

It’s very important for people, regardless of age or physical/mental health, to have both healthcare and financial power of attorney documents in place. Life can be unpredictable and you never know when you will need someone to act on your behalf should you become incapacitated.

how much does it cost to do power of attorney papers?

Power of attorney - Lasting, enduring and ordinary | Age UK.

For UK. USA will differ.

My wife has control over my health decisions. I gave it to her voluntarily after my last relapse – she didn’t ask. It goes to my daughter if my wife is incapacitated. I have insight until I don’t. Not repeating previous mistakes in this department.

My sister is my POA. My other sister is my guardian. It’s a messed up situation. Because I like to handle things on my own. Like this medication switch and she is wrong.

If you have anyone in the world you know and test other than a stranger, I say switch to them. It’s very scary to trust your care to a total stranger.

Its pretty good having a power of attorney. I’m not too fond of the guardian though. I wasn’t to keep the POA and ditch the guardian

I want to keep the POA
