Portrait Painting I did this eve, using Watercolours

This one below is with the sellotape around it, I kind of like the messy effect under the sellotape:

And this below is with a grey filter on my phone:

This was the style of another artist that I was using as reference and inspiration, I love their painting style

Mine looks nothing like it but it was the effort that counts!

Omg! Watercolors are tough to paint with and you created that? Amazing! You have more artistic talent going for you than you realize.

Kudos on a good job. I love it.

Thanks. Thing is I want to be the best watercolour artist in the world, like one of them, like a natural.

But this painting took me hours, and plus lots of coffee which I am trying to give up. and it is still not up to the standard that I want

So,I was considering giving up today but after this painting I feel like with time I might improve.

not sure if I can afford to check because watercolour painting stuff is expensive,

I might give it a while longer to decide

You got this. Do you use artist or student grade paints?

Thanks, I have some artist grade ones and some student grade ones.

Fortunately the student grade ones are not bad! so I will continue getting those.

but the thing is that paintbrushes are expensive, I have artist grade ones,so when they wear out I would have to spend a mini fortune, trying to look after them as best as I can but there is only so much one can do.

Do you do any form of painting or drawing?

Noip! Just photography on a super part time basis. Mostly low light and long exposure stuff.

I’d like to try oils but I’m already into so much stuff. I need to take it easy instead of being overwhelmed.

yea, don’t overwhelm yourself, but if you are really curious you could always try out an oil painting class just to see :),if you have them where you are

oils are beautiful!! but they are so much effort to clean up and stain everything. so I prefer watercolour

I used to practice Sumi-e. If I were to try art again that is what I would do.

At least you only need to buy one colour for that , saves on the cash.
