[poll] Taking meds late or missing meds

Are you guilty of missing your meds or taking them late? I accidentally forget my meds a lot and take them later in the day than I’m supposed to. Occasionally, I purposely take them late because I just don’t want to take them. What are you guilty of? Are you trying to change your ways, if you’re guilty of missing them or taking them late?

  • Always take meds on time
  • Sometimes accidentally take meds late
  • Sometimes accidentally miss taking meds entirely
  • Sometimes purposely take meds late
  • Sometimes purposely miss taking meds entirely

I forget to take everything all the time. It is why I went on injections.

I’ve thought about doing injections. But IDK if my insurance would cover them.

I never miss taking my medication. I have alarms set to automatically go off on my computer, my Google Pixel XL phone, and a spare phone. I take it at exactly the same times every night. Plus, when I take it, I write down in an exercise book that I have taken it.

That’s really good, Liquid!! I’m very proud of you.

By the way, I also have a Pixel phone! I have the Pixel 2 and I’m on Google Fi. Good phone.

I’ve heard several places that if you miss your usual time for taking meds by more than two hours than just skip it and take your dose the next day at the usual time. But doubling up the next day to make up for the missed dose is generally a bad idea.

I learned the hard way for myself that when it comes to taking your meds and you are forgetful and you weren’t 100% sure that you took your dose, it’s better to just skip it. Last year I thought I took my night meds but I wasn’t sure so I took another dose and then realized yes, I had taken the usual dose at the usual time already. Big mistake. I started feeling very strange and sick and I was about 5 minutes away from freaking out and going to the emergency room. But I fought the feeling and after about two hours I felt OK again. Whew!!

I get a monthly injection of paliperidone so I can’t forget that but I sometimes forget my morning dose of seizure medication and anti depressant Maybe about once or twice a week I forget. But it doesn’t seem to have had any effect on me. I am doing OK.

My parents remind me to take my meds. It’s more annoying than an alarm clock

I don’t miss taking my medication. I take some in the morning just before i go to work. Then i take some just before bed. I have found this strategy has worked well for me.

I sometimes forget my evening dose of Seroquel.
But I take my important meds in the morning, so I’ve made it part of my waking up routine.
Have a drink, pee, brush teeth, take meds.
That way I won’t forget them

I never forget. But in the past have been guilty of skipping altogether purposefully

I have no structure, so i take them at different times each day and i forget at times. Or rather: like this weekend, i forget to renew the receipt in time and then the pharmacy doesnt have meds right away and im without.

I also purposefully take less meds than most doctors would like, but im the one who decides how much to use. My pdoc isnt really involved in my dosing, except by following it. So i didnt know what to vote on the purposefully skipping.

I skip mine sometimes when I worry that I won’t be able to refill. I depend on my dad to pick up my meds. He’s often too busy or forgets.

I rarely forget, but it does happen occasionally. It always sucks. I do sometimes delay them by a couple hours, because I have to take them with 500 calories, and I’m not always hungry enough to do that at med time. I always take them between 5-8. It’s a big window, but my meds absorb slowly, so it doesn’t affect me too much.

I use a weekly pill box, even though I only take the one pill daily. If I am unsure if I took the day’s pill I can check the box.

I have a medication reminder alarm that reminds me to take it. If for some reason I can’t take it right then I can snooze the alarm for a period of time I select

I take abilify straight away after waking. I wake at the same time everyday more or less.

I have alarms on my phone for metformin as I have to take that 3x a day.

So I’m very med compliant.
