Poll: Singing for voices

Was talking to a support worker the other day. We where talking on singing does help with voices so thought I’d do a poll on it.

Does singing help with the voices?

  • Singing does help with the voices
  • Helps somewhat with the voices
  • Doesn’t help at all

The demons hated my singing. During my psychotic episodes they used to hurt me when I sang. Now that I am better I don’t get that anymore but it never worked for me regardless.

I find it doesn’t help. Why? Part of that noise in my head is already music. Singing the song out loud doesn’t make it go away, unfortunately, and I can’t manage to sing a different song while one is already playing. I’ve tried even doing it mentally for when I can’t sing out loud.

I don’t know if it directly helps, but I think it can be soothing. What I like about singing is when you try to polish your technique you find that it’s all about smooth breathing. Smooth breathing can be calming and it gives you a better sense of how your body works.

Listening to music, loud music, helps me the most.
