I said they could split an alcoholic cooler drink. My wife disagreed, then changed her mind and agreed.
I mean, they’re going to find it at some point. Maybe having them test it in a controlled environment is a good thing?
I’m of two minds on this one, I suppose.
It is my understanding that in North America underage drinking is more tightly regulated. Here in Europe it isn’t such of a big deal. I started having drinks with my parents at about 14 years old.
And look at me - I turned out alright? (Actually don’t answer that lol )
It’s sweet that they even asked, without going behind our backs and experimenting. They’re really good straight laced kids.
I think I’ll stick with the original plan and allow them to split a cooler drink.
Like @anon94176359 said, when I was 14 / 15 my parents bought me insane amounts of alcohol every friday night (literally). I think I might be a bit more strict with my kids though, because alcohol was kind of a gateway drug.
The legal drinking age in my Province here in Canada is 19.
But I realize that kids are growing up faster than we did…16 is like the new 20 in some respects. They go off to University at 17-18 years of age.
