One major episode. Several minor ones aka only voices but without loss of touch with reality.

I had 4 major ones. The worst was before my diagnosis where I nearly killed myself. The other 3 and all the minor ones were because I stopped meds or from smoking high THC weed.

Strange but my biggest psychotic episode lasted for years and I was not hospitalised but could not function or cope and could only just manage the basics somehow which I couldn’t when hospitalised.

I have been hospitalised three times but psychotic more times.

I’ve had around 4 breaks. However, since starting on my medication, i’ve been stable for well over a year now.

With the passage of time , and fluctuating thoughts as to whether mentally ill or just very socially dysfunctional , it’s hard to arrive at a number . I just know I had . over a dozen hospitalisations between 1975 -1983 .

I counted 3 major breaks but the affects lasted years.

I don’t know, I think just one, or maybe two. I’m not sure how far gone I was. I was pretty far gone. Memory very fuzzy, suicide attempt, hospitalization, I guess I would say two, possibly even more. It’s hard to remember because of the overdoses and being comatose and being in the ICU and everything. I didn’t answer the poll because I honestly don’t know.

I’d say 5 breaks but one lasted decades.

I had one pretty much every year starting when I was a junior in highschool and going until I went on antipsychotics my junior year of college. So like 4 or 5 major ones. The first one was DEFINITELY the most severe and prolonged.

3 but they have all served their puropse and taught me something. I recovered from them feeling better and more informed. Life is peachy now, I feel blessed. Hope you felt the same coming out of yours

The 1st one set the tone of my relationship with MH professionals for decades . Like you I was in very bad shape mentally . Prior to hospitalisation I had this idealistic idea of how psychiatrists were .

After a week settling in on the admission ward I was told I was being sent to make doll’s houses . At the time I was incapable of doing the things I was usually good at ,let alone something I had zero aptitude for . I went into major panic mode, and had to be dragged from the path of a hospital bus .

I then saw a pdoc who instead of doing the compassionate and intelligent thing ,i.e finding out what caused the reaction, very unsympathetically and angrily told me I was an awkward and troublesome teenager . I was then put on a medium stay ward . A suicide attempt on that ward , due to being distressed by that pdoc’s callous attitude , had me put on the closed ward . All through this I was on heavy doses of largactil and then mellaril with nothing for the side effects. Cue a horrendous case of akathisia .

After 3 months there my mother and father got me transferred to a day centre near home .

I had many short (days) episodes. Never long ones.

I’ve had so many psychotic episodes that i’ve lost track of the number. I’m sure it’s in the hundreds.
