Just asking out of curiosity - who here is able to touchtype?
Im a coder so i learnt this a long time ago, its a big help when typing a lot.
For those who dont touchtype, but regularly use a keyboard, either desktop pc or laptop, then i recommend learning. It takes some time and effort in the short term, but pays off in the long term.
Edit - by ‘touchtype’ i mean knowing how to type on a keyboard without looking where the keys are and using both hands.
i had to learn how to do it when i was in school as a kid a very long time ago. they used to put the silicon things over the keycaps and have to complete typing pieces and games even i think without being able to see the keys
I hate that I have to look. I took two typing classes in my life, once in third grade and again in my senior year of high school. Unfortunately I still can’t do it. I especially can’t do it on my iPhone.
I’m very quick on the numpad though. Don’t need to look to use that. Thanks to my years in retail.
I had a similar class but since they left the typewriter keys labeled, I would just look down at the keys so I didnt learn anything. i guess I am on Team Looky-loo when it comes to typing.
Sometimes I try to watch the keyboard when I mistype. But most of the times I get used to it to type without looking at it. My job has always been typing on the systems so its like that.
I actually forgot that I touch type when i read the thread title. Ive been using computers since childhood 2000 and onwards, so i guess it’s just naturally been a part of me and i forget sometimes we know have it as a skill
