At the appointment when asking about medication history the pdoc asked if I’d been on clozapine which is strange as I have never been regarded as tx resistant.

I’m treatment resistant and am currently on Clozapine. The blood draws get pretty old. The motto is: No blood; No drug.

I have treatment resistant sza. I’m on clozapine but it has to be titrated slowly. I’m on 400 mg right now but my pdoc wants to eventually get rid of my lithium and lamotrigine and only have clozapine besides my concerta for Adhd. I’m not doing super well right now

I’m treatment resistant and on Clozaril.
It’s helped more than any other AP I tried.

Don’t think I’m treatment resistant because risperidone works.
If I wasn’t on risperidone then I’d be in trouble.
Nothing else has worked as well.
I’ve tried many different APs.

It would be interesting to know how they define tx resistant. Are we talking only about non response to medication at all or also a partial response that falls below a certain level?

I’ve been diagnosed with many things including treatment resistant schizophrenia. I’ve been on Clozaril, but had to stop due to NMS. Currently, my doctor thinks I have bipolar disorder. I’m pretty low functioning. But the new diagnosis gives me hope. The doctor could be wrong, I don’t know.

I know it’s human nature to want to fit a category/belong to a group even if it’s a mental health diagnosis. However in my experience diagnoses can fluctuate. For example I was diagnosed sz and then sz -a between 1975- 2005 and various PDs since. The appointment I just had the pdoc was talking schizophrenia again !
Ultimately what matter is getting the right medication and other treatment for your problems/symptoms .
All my life, I’ve been treatment resistant. That’s why I have to be treated with multiple AP’s. But I’ve always refused to be treated with Clozapine.

Considered TR and have tried clozapine. HAVE tried it. I just couldn’t take the side effects at all. Excessive drooling that covered all my pillows during the night and then there was the tiredness. Sleeping to 10 hours a night plus naps throughout the day.

I’m treatment resistant and will be starting Clozapine tomorrow. Look forward to it. I’m sick of topping myself up with two AP’s.

Yes, I haven’t tried it yet. I take high dose of zyprexa 80mg (plus two more aps) which works for treatment resistant patients.
