POLL: A Beautiful Mind: the most overrated SZ movie ever?

  • This movie is the reason I become a schizophrenic
  • My dog’s got more interesting delusions than Nash
  • Anything with John Travolta is going to be poignant and relevant
  • I didn’t get the gay subtext
  • It’s alright, but it’s not Girl, Interrupted
  • No

The books better. He wasn’t really a good dad though. Biggest let down was that part: the narcissism. I love “A Beautiful Mind”. Maybe because I enjoy math and the film reminds me of my potential or life. Definitely suspenseful and I frequently enjoy and watch the trailers. Maybe you don’t like it because you don’t think you got schizophrenia?

Was John Travolta in A Beautiful Mind?

I’ve never seen it, but are you thinking of Russell Crowe?

A Beautiful Mind is a classic.
I think you are thinking of Russel Crowe not John Travolta.

He is one of my favorite actors.

Loved him in Gladiator also.

Don’t forget Master and Commander.

Trust a paranoid schizophrenic to come up with the Machiavellian game theory. Anyone would think the whole world was against him or something.

Haha, I know John Travolta is not in the movie, I just want to give folks more attractive choices.

I don’t have schizophrenia, but that’s not the reason I don’t like it.

Why didn’t you like it? @NotSeksoEmpirico

I like this movie. The first half hour dragged on but then it started to get better. It did make me cry and I like jeniffer Conelly. Especially in that movie with David Bowie.

I remember I was scared to go to the psychiatric hospital. Because I thought that, I’d get that ect treatment automatically, really they should inform you what’s going to happen…

I didn’t hate it, it had the faults, but also many of the minor virtues of a typical Hollywood production. There are much more interesting sz movies out there.

Yes it was very “Hollywood”
Designed to appeal to the masses.

But still, a classic.

My main problem with the movie is that it shows Nash taking his medication and getting better, but that wasn’t the case for Nash.

A more realistic movie about schizophrenia is Clean, Shaven.
