Plus sized folks

Where do you get your clothes?

I gained a lot of weight in the past year and now I’m what they call plus-sized, at least in the US. Outside of Walmart, where do you get your clothes?

I’m finding it to be a bit of a pain in the ass. There’s a Marshall’s near me, but most of it is too small.

Hi old friend!

I buy a lot of my nice shirts at thrift stores. I just make sure to really eyeball the size of them to make sure they haven’t been shrunk to much in the washing machine (I wear a 3xl shirt).

For graphic tees I mostly buy those at Walmart. Maybe Amazon or Etsy for my more off the beaten path horror tees.

And for jeans I mostly buy those on Amazon. I try to mostly buy jeans that have a little stretch to them. Especially in the waist.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! I forgot about thrift stores. I will check those out. Yeah, I’ll have to start shopping on Amazon.

Yw

Yeah thrift shops are heaven when it comes to plus size clothes because a lot of people like to donate their old clothes when they lose weight.

Just remember to wash everything you buy. :+1:

I mostly buy my 2X clothing on Amazon and Hanes.com

I like the Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, and Amazon has the best prices on them. They have good tees ad well.

Hanes has unisex sweatshirts I love.

Oh, and I like the Ava & Viv line at Target. I have some of their tees as well.

There’s a block of companies for women online - WomanWithin, Roaman’s, Catherine’s Jessica London, etc. I have a bunch of WomanWithin tops.

Belk has some good plus sizes. I cant remember the name of the label I liked from there. Kim Rogers I think.

The same company who owns all those womens labels has a male side called KingSize.com. That’s where we get all Chris’s clothes. He’s 6’8" and can’t buy in regular stores.

I used to buy from Kohl’s a lot, but the quality of their store brands had gone down considerably. The colors fade way too fast, and I don’t like disposable clothes.

Thrift stores or Amazon. Mostly Amazon. Old navy has a plus size section that’s pretty good too. Especially for jeans.

I buy a lot of stuff off of Kingsize.com. They go all the way up
to 10XL. The clothes aren’t exorbitantly expensive but they charge a lot for shipping. They often have 50% off sales where you can get a t-shirt for under $15.00. I just bought a jacket on sale for $32.

Other plus size clothes are hit or miss,

However,

I have found the best plus size jeans ever.

And they compete with some super expensive jeans.

Costco.

Like the “Kirkland” brand high waist jeans.

They are frequently sold out online,

And that’s the only place to get them.

I currently have four pair.

Seriously I check every few days to see if they have my size.

Best part?

They’re like $18.

Being plus size is difficult because it doesn’t seem quite as uniform as standard sizes.

Skinny is skinny, for the most part,

But everyone gains weight different ways.

I’ve found a brand that fits well for my body type.

I recommend giving them a try if you have larger hips like me.
