I was playing varsity basketball when I went nuts, back in 2014. I’ve been on the court maybe twice since then, after playing on several teams my whole life. I played with my sister’s boyfriend on Christmas Day and it was like meeting an old friend. I missed basketball a lot. I can still shoot the ole three. I used to average 5+ made 3’s in a game. Wasn’t ever a great ball handler though. I need to work on that.
I love basketball playing and watching nba. I used to be so addicted with it and it helped that im 6’6". I haven’t balled in a while though. Im gonna try too get back on the courts this spring. Also happy almost b day!
Got the same relationship you do but with soccer. Only I haven’t really played for 10+ years. Keep making excuses and it’s a team sport so I’m not too keen on the social.
Hey Bluey-- I played 2.5 years on Varsity as a point guard. I couldn’t shoot the rock back then but was a playmaker and a good defender. My sz was jut beginning to brew during high school, didn’t become evident until I became sick until a few years later. I ended up trying out for university basketball team (a Division 3 school) but didn’t make the cut (right before I had my break from reality).
I hoop once or twice a week now, I’m 38. You have your whole life in front of you, you should get back out on the court. Just about every day at the university (post dz) I was at the gym playing pick up and managed to get on a couple intramural teams. Exercise combats depression, loneliness, weight gain, and any sort of mental disorder. If you lived close by, we could go play, get you back you on the court launching treys and me dropping dimes to you. Just a thought
Never could watch college sports. Started watching the Warriors in 07 when they beat the Mavs in the first round. Been a fan ever since… saw Curry at a game back when he was baby-faced. Are you a Clippers fan? I HATE the Clippers!
Yep I used to take my ball and drive down to the local park to ball. Thing is there are so many ballers who are in outstanding shape. It would take months of balling gradually to attain a shape where my ass isn’t sore running full court.
Basketball wasn’t my favorite sport but I played it when I was growing up. After I got sick when I was 19 I shot baskets in the backyard of the first group home I was in. I played it again a couple of years later at another group home. I pretty much stop playing for years, then I played again 4 years later in the hospital when I relapsed. That was when I was about 28 or 29.
When I was 40 my ex-brother-in-law hired me to help my nephew who was having some problems while he was in 8th grade. My nephew was getting bad grades, and shirking responsibility so my ex-brother-in-law hired me to go over their house (my sister, my nephews mom was living out of the country at the time) after my nephew got home from school and I would help him with his homework, make sure he did some chores and then keep him entertained.
It was only for four days a week, and only four hours a day. I got paid $200.00 a month and I did it for 5 months. But I digress. For entertainment we played a LOT of basketball, almost every day. One on one, a 14 year old with all the energy in the world against the 40 year old paranoid schizophrenic. I’m happy to say that I held my own most of the time like I said, it wasn’t my favorite sport but I had my pride and I played as hard as I could. My nephew was a pain in the ass but I had some good memories of those days.
