Physical illness vs mental illness

What so often eludes the sight of others is beyond their comprehension.

i’m ok, we met another friend with sz today who stays nearby and he came over to my place and exchanged xmas cards lol, i love it when i get a card, i think i have the most i ever had this year lol but i was depressed recently its like up and down (sorry about that), but yeah its a record for xmas cards this year,

Sorry about the depression. It stinks to feel that way. I have it too. Awesome news about the cards you’ve received though! You’re quite popular!

well its only ten cards, i don’t know about being popular lol i’d hate to be popular, i’d feel like the spot light was on me  haha i think if i am just acknowledged then that is more than enough haha, but i am hoping to become a stronger person because i feel really weak just now, so i am really hoping to become stronger  maybe if i hope for long enough it will happen  so here’s hoping

Having been through what you have, I’d say you’ve proven a lot of strength. But everyone needs a pick-me-up now and again. Keep up the good work!!

I feel physically ill right now and it sucks too

To top it off, some people who are starting to think schizophrenia is biological and practically physical also think that schizophrenia is therefore harder to treat and hopeless because it is a hardware problem.

Hardware problem=need new hardware
software problem=hire computer wizard

We need more of us feeling proud and coming out publicly. Maybe even having a sense of humor, a little self-deprecation maybe, that sounds like it would make us look more like how we really are; we on here have great senses of humor, like when people make light of their symptoms and call them “the head circus”, when I pray to Doge, ect.

I would disagree with politeness.

Schizophrenia affects our feeling, thinking and behavior. Therefore, it is reasonable to relate that to “software” issues. I am not saying that Schizophrenia is not a Brain Disorder or anything biological and physical.
When someone has a foot fracture and degloving injury, then I think it is considered as “hardware” problem.

Well, I can point you to some scientific articles about how schizophrenia is in fact a biological illness. My stating of it being biological passed the eyes and ears of many professors and graduate students as well as honors undergrad contemporaries/peers of mine.

Trust me, schizophrenia is a brain disease. It is a problem with the development of the brain. Our brains show up as abnormal as hell in neuroimaging testing like MRIs and fMRIs.

The real point…again…is that it’s not our fault. At all. Science even shows that it certainly isn’t our fault. My research is concerned with how people need to respect this fact.

Exactly. Here is an interesting fact. I was born very very premature with the possibility of certain parts of the brain incomplete/smaller than average. My skull is smaller than it should be, and doctors told my parents that there was a good chance I would develop issues(something I wish I knew before it happened -_-)…

Despite that, this is just some personal proof of how sz is biological.

Check this out.

I was born around 31 weeks or so.

Also, @Gir “A Room with a Moose!” "To make room for the tuna!"
Yep, I’m a fan.

A person with mental illness is not a failure. Like physical illness, Schizophrenia is an illness.

is a thought suppose to be biological? chemical? partially or completely and what about the soul?

Your soul is still responding even in the midst of psychosis. You can have ten different people experience the exact same delusion, and they will all react to it differently in little ways, in some cases big ways. Your soul never leaves the equation, even when mental illness is active.

what is the soul, i’m confused, some people make me think it is biological and chemical in nature, how do you explain the soul of a person in scientific terms?

Psychology isn’t going to be able to fit the scientific mold the way chemistry can, for example. I am personally okay with this. Like when I finally understood that my mother is secretly insecure and only puffs her chest because of that, there was nothing scientific about it. I just understood her better from one human being to another. Science is amazing and essential for a society as a whole, but it’s also not required for everything.

so you think it is a chemical thing? people have been trying to control the chemicals in my brain with meds for ages and it still hasn’t solved the root of the problem, i wonder if they are just trying to calm us rather than treat the actual problem(s).

I do not know for sure, but a thought perhaps is a form of energy.
