Is sz a problem with the brain or the mind

I mean is it a disease of the brain like dementia or alzheimer’s

Or something psychological, like a phobia of spiders, which can be cured by talking

A famous psychologist Jung was able to cure schizophrenia, and whenever he did they told him ‘it wasn’t really schizophrenia.’

Me I’m not sure, any one have thoughts on it?

It’s easier to give pills, cheaper, than talking it over with an expensive psychiatrist

Hm

Sz isn’t fatal and there is no scientific test which can detect it in the brain, even when the patient is dead

That’s a very good question. It is most likely a combination of the two. Personally my problems came about from smoking weed, so I’d say more from the brain for me.

It’s a complex brain disease but has psychological implications as well.

Well, all scientists are reductionist materialists, and believe everything including ourselves our brains are ‘just’ chemicals or particles in motion.

They also believe ‘love’ ‘hate’ emotions are ‘just’ chemicals, heck ‘everything’ is.

How long before they say being ‘angry’ is a disease… it is a chemical which causes us unease. Or any other negative emotion.

I dunno, it seems a little crazy to me, I believe living beings are more than ‘just’ chemicals as scientists would have it.

i think it can be both, mental and physical biological illness, i wouldnt go far as to say disease though, maybe its a condition, its definitely an illness

Yeah, Disorder might be a better word to use.

I strongly think sz is a disease of the mind. Schizoprenics have nothing wrong with their brain.

If it was a disease of the brain the reason and cure would have been discovered long time ago.

Schizophrenia is a complex brain disease that researchers suspect stem from problems in the hippocampus.

That said, I think one of the benefits of it is that people have better access to the spirit world because of it. In some cultures, schizophrenics often become shamans because of their supernatural abilities to connect with the occult.

schizophrenia is deftinitely a ‘brain’ disease, although some think it could be due to auto immune issues it prunes certain areas of the brain and is thought most likely to be due to dopemine imbalances in the brain etc…
oh and there are scans that can see this in action and blood tests are forthcoming in detecting the disease…
also there is genetic evidence etc…
in no way let people tell you ‘its all in your mind’ thats crap…
i s is the case for all so-called ‘mental illneses’ and one day this will be proven true…

You may be right Mexxem but my feeling is it’s a psychological illness.

Of course in science, all problems are material, chemical, of the brain. To a scientist all emotions are ‘just chemicals’ love hate anger fear etc. So of course to them schizophrenia is a ‘chemical problem.’

When your parents die and you grieve, to the scientists it’s a chemical problem that you feel sad and depressed.

When somone cuts you off in traffic, it’s a chemical problem that you feel anger.

When your girlfriend dumps you, it’s a chemical problem that you feel upset.

I think it’s more than that, it’s the experience of a living being to feel these things. ■■■■ the chemicals.

This ‘scientific’ approach to the problems of a living beings is unnatural. I would say it lacks empathy, as a psychopath lacks empathy. It’s totally unnatural, we are all living beings, not just ‘chemicals’ or atoms colliding or molecules interacting. We’re living being ffs.

If it made a cure for sz easier by imagining us as chemicals, then ok fine go ahead. But it doesn’t they don’t even know the cause of it. All the dopamine imbalance crap is guesswork. They haven’t a clue what they’re doing.

I’d say it’s more unnatural to explain living beings with concepts like the soul. The soul is trying to place humans outside of nature, while the scientific approach, even though it’s usually reductionistic, is trying to explain humans as a part of the world around us.

Finding a good explanation for a complex phenomenon takes time. They have made substantial progress.

The brain is a lot more complex than most organs of the body. Until very recently, they had no idea what causes alzheimer’s. They still don’t really know what causes headaches, either.

If you’re so smart treebeard why don’t you cure sz yourself?

Calm down. I’m just trying to be helpful.

ok i apologise, i try to help, but noone wants to listen

frings is going to bed good night!

No, frings, I wasn’t looking for a fight. I was trying to help you not lose faith in science. Medicine has cured many diseases, and eventually, we will find a cure for this one too.

Have the last word treebeard, don’t mind deleting my posts.
