Has anyone had auditory hallucinations where you are hearing real people talking in the distance, but then, in their speech, they say phrases and words that you know they are not saying? They seem to be directed at what I am thinking, but I know they are not saying those things. It is like I am hearing voices, but they are piggybacking on real sound.
No, but often people are talking and their lips are moving but I can’t figure out what they are saying, it’s kinda odd
Frequently, and I really like how you described it.
Every single day!
I used to have that happen constantly. Now on meds it only happens occasionally, thank god. It’s a very troublesome occurrence.
I was wondering how common it was. It seems to have reduced with medication. If I talk to people face to face it usually doesn’t happen.
Happens to me too. Before medication I could look at people’s mouth hear what they say, but the voices would burst in and say something else making me think the other person said that. Sometimes I didnot understand a word of what they said. Just stupid stuff or random phrases.
I’ve been sitting in a restaurant hearing teen age girls talking about me, and it was plausible that they would do that, but I was the only one in the restaurant. One time at school I heard this girl outside my door yell, “Well okay, but don’t let him get next to any girls, because he could go crazy at any minute.” I constantly thought people were out in the hall talking about me when I was on that floor. I even thought they could see through my door and tell what I was doing in my room. Talk about an invasion of privacy! There have been times when I was clearly hearing people several blocks away talking about me. It’s amazing how medication stopped that.
