People are aware of my thoughts

How do you know they react if you are hiding you face ? I mean you can’t see them.

lol, I think going to work for me helps much better than staying at home. And yes, may be it’s all coincidences, but if you put in your mind an idea and start looking for proofs, you will certainly find what you are looking for, especially for a vague idea like “people hear our thoughts” based on how people react.

yeah, work is important. also, meds help

I’m glad to help. I think meds can help you, and you probably won’t need a high dose so the side effects won’t bother you so much.

Besides, you shouldn’t listen to those things about “there are those who can read your thoughts and those who can´t.” It is impossible, plain and simple. You should keep away from those comments because they can be powerful triggers. Every time I stepped into a situation in which a comment or anything could be interpreted as a confirmation of my delusions I wanted to hold it desperately, becuase you always want to believe, and believe can grow overtime until it absorbs you.

Don’t pay attention to that.

I completely agree, however I prefer to discuss all sorts of ideas maybe it will be useful not only for me but for others as well, and as you can see my belief in it (telepathy) isn’t as strong as it was at the beginning, but as you said believe can grow overtime.

I understand your point, but I think is an unnecesary risk. Sharing experiences and strategies is better than trying to nurture the idea that mind reading or something like that is possible: I mean, you don’t get anything out of it, but it could strengthen your beliefs without you even noticing it (it happens slowly, you’re being conditioned toward the belief). I know your belief is not strong, but mine wasn’t either, until I collapsed. It took me a year or so, but the collapse came, and it remains the worst thing that ever happened to me.

In the past my belief was so strong to the point that I have my own conspiracy theory and all sorts of stupid thoughts that go along with, what open my eyes indeed is the fact that many people have the same condition as mine and it’s not specific to a race or age, so I admit the fact that it’s an illness. You can imagine the look on my face when I knew about it for the first time from the net Lol, after that I read other people’s experiences and every time I have the feeling that it was me who wrote them. Now I feel like it’s absolutely ridiculous to believe in it, I will speak to my parents next week when I see them because I live in another city, then I will see a doc.

Loool, I had that felling too, but to be honest with you I stopped believing in my judgement if it’s based on the gestures and tones of the others, and the reason is a funny story: At the beginning of my illness I was really confused to the point that I believed that TV presenters are aware of my presence and thoughts, and I interpret every single move from them as a response to what I was thinking, anyway the funniest part is that one day I discovered that the program I was watching was actually pre-recorded :joy:.

I have seen news reporters respond to my thoughts and feeling a live in a way that makes it VERY difficult for me to dismiss it. Fully visible nods and head shakes, etc.

Yes it was the same for me too, and sometimes I notice they repeat my thoughts the next episode, as they take my suggestions into consideration . As you can see these are common symptoms, it took me two years to figure it out :disappointed:.

The news presenter nodding reminds me of Libet’s research and meso American human sacrifice.

It may have been the case that, the Aztecs used to use their knowledge of cycle of solar eclipses to (as in the Mel Gibson film Apocalyptico - where the Mayans were blamed) to trick people. On the day when a solar eclipse is known to be coming they would line people up to be killed and present the eclipse as being the dissatisfaction and the inevitable return of the sun to be the satisfaction of the Sun God. In fact of course there was no causal connection merely prediction. The Aztecs may have known what was coming so they could make it out that their sacrifices were causal.

Aztec calendar stone

Mel Gibson transposed that to the Mayans (warning very gory)

The neuroscientist Benjamin Libet has shown that our thoughts come after the unconscious brain activity that causes our actions, and that our sensations (like our own decisions) are likewise sometimes delayed till after our conscious thoughts.

Libet’s research is summarised here
http://www.andyross.net/haynes.htm

Thus in the case where news reporters seem to nod to thoughts, it could be because the brain sees the news reporter nod, delays the consciousness awareness of the same, inserts the thought, and they the nod seems to have been caused by the thought.
