I was just curious as to who attends a Peer Support Program in this forum. I’ve been attending Peer Support for about 4+ years now. It’s a good program because you can relate to folk (just like this forum) who have been through or are going through the same experiences with a mental health diagnosis.
There is only one program like that in my town. I attended for a while. It was for everyone. Mostly depression, some bipolar, if there were any other sz they didn’t let it be known.
I grew tired of it though, I was hallucinating the whole time and they had us fill out the same worksheets every day and christ sake they made us READ of all things… lol
Nah that ■■■■ was boring as hell, but it is where I learned all about CBT, which eventually got me to the point I’m at now.
Groups like that can be very helpful.
Not very helpful locally…Just a few members who are learning disabled and functions like a cat fight situation most of time with a moderator/referee…Went couple of times to schizo anonymous, hate therapy telling the people to resort to God and imply following orders is a good idea, some follow orders after encouraged by church just to stalk people & preach, while others follow orders from voices to kill people or batter…
At same time is NAMI meeting for families with all the worriers talking about the latest need for interventions then mental care doctor swoops in to save the day with meds suggestions…Really good drama to motivate new schizo victim’s families to nag about meds…
