Peer mentoring

Has anyone ever tried this?

This forum is great, but it’s been a long time now where this is the only community I feel part of and I thought that this might help

Give it a go! You really have nothing to lose and if your getting social contact that is a good thing.

You don’t find it palatable then you don’t have to do it so don’t waste the time waiting…just try it!

Thanks @rogueone I will give it a go. Their coordinator will call me in a few days. It’s in a neighbouring city so will have to travel but should be ok

I have an assessment next Friday now. They also have groups which I have never done before so might try that too if I can adjust my hours at work.

@rogueone

I had the assessment yesterday and I got accepted. They said they think they have someone about my age who has suffered from depression who is doing well now will mentor.

I did ask if they has someone with Sz who I could see, but they said they didn’t.

I told them I’d be happy to put back into the service as a volunteer in future when I am feeling up to it.

Thanks for the update. Has a lot to offer I’d imagine and hope it suits you!

I hope so.

It’s for 10 sessions and there’s a waiting list so not sure when it will start.

I will post again once I have done it so others can see what it’s like and if they have anything similar near them.

Sounds good. Will be interesting to hear what you think about it! Peer to peer counselling is something I’d think far more beneficial than therapy for a lot of punters!
