My Parkinsonism is only getting worse with the add on of Lithium and augment that with 40-50 mg of haldol a day, and it doesn’t look too swell. I’m only 22, but was worried about this developing into legitimate Parkinson’s Disease sooner rather than later. As it is, I can’t really work with my hands doing nimble work, as they tremor too much. I feel stiff and slow. These are not good things to experience before old age.
I don’t think it will develop further, the cause of it is the meds and not lewy bodies. I take Cogentin for it.
That’s a lot of Haldol. When I took it I did 10mg and even that made me stiff and hands shaking. I also take lithium and get the shakes from that too. Benztropine helps me(name brand cogentin)
That’s reassuring to hear, thank you!
Yeah, so I’ve heard it’s kinda high, but it’s the best non weight gainer for me as I’m extremely sensitive to second gen weight gain. I’ve been able to lose close to a hundred pounds with haldol and caplyta.
However, thank you for the suggestion of cogentin. I will ask the doctor about it.
I just started Vraylar, I hear it’s supposed to be very weight neutral. Geodon is also very weight neutral. I’ll have to wait and see how the Vraylar pans out in regards to weight I’ve only been on it one week
Tell me about it. With genuine Parkinson’s you’ll notice other symptoms like your handwriting starting to shrink, difficulty with starting movements, slowed movements, balance impairments leading to more falls, muscle stiffness, and the tremors as you have mentioned. There are other neurological issues that we are not sure if I have yet.
I’m closer to old age than you and it still sucks as I had other plans.
Yes, @shutterbug, you were the first person I thought of about asking on this forum about Parkinson’s, because if I remember correctly, you have Parkinson’s. I’ve seen several people in my life go through it, and it’s not good at all. I feel bad for you and all that you have to endure.
I hope I don’t get Parkinson’s, the real disease is hundred times worse than my side effects from neuroleptics. But still, it makes being a electrician harder.
I hope vraylar will go well for you!
Has anyone on here experienced symptoms of Parkinsonism or Parkinson’s Disease when lowering their APs?
Is that even legal holy ■■■■ I used to take 10mg now I take 100mg of the injection every 4 weeks omg
Yeah, the max dose is like 90 mg, but most people don’t go past 30 mg. This is basically the last antipsychotic I try before I have to be on Clozapine, so I’m trying to extend it as long as I can. Most antipsychotics fail me given time.
I experienced TD when coming off Risperidone or Abilify… I don’t remember exactly which one. Other than that it seems like going up aggravated the symptoms of Parkinsonism.
