Paranoid Schizophrenia

My first diagnosis was paranoid schizophrenia. I had several paranoid episodes all through-out my teen years. Isn’t that unusual for a woman to have early onset schizophrenia dealing with paranoia? But over time it has gotten better. I have consistently more-or-less been on Abilify. I think it reversed it somewhat, or maybe aging did or adapting to the situation.

Do I still have paranoid schizophrenia? Even if I do have paranoid schizophrenia, its worse when things do happen or you could be a target of a crime and then get brushed off as paranoia. Like when I got chased by the black SUV and went to the ER and told them I felt unsafe. In the medical records it lists that as a paranoid delusion but the SUV followed me for an hour closely behind and I pulled into a random driveway and waited for it to leave.

If you are complete symptom free for some periods of time then its likely meds are working wonders for you or you have residual schizophrenia

The medication did work wonders. I can’t explain what brought out the episodes. I had a total breakdown of reality. I don’t know if there is a difference between having a breakdown and having schizophrenia–but they were pretty sure it was schizophrenia.

Having paranoid schizophrenia is very difficult. That’s why I think I have had such trouble landing a full time job that wasn’t too much stress. I am taking classes online and keeping a low-stress life. But having paranoid schizophrenia is difficult. Its the worst.

Your best friends become enemies…I really was a worst case with not a good outlook. It helps that I never gave up on myself, even when others have. The medication was a life-saver for sure, but I also don’t give up on being true and I’m optimistic.

Learning detachment, visualization and Buddhist meditation or any sort of mind calming exercises have also been a breakthrough coping skill.
