Other causes of psychosis

Marijuana
I believe that was the culprit, or a big part of the episode I had13 years ago.
I used to smoke marijuana every single day. I was going through my episode and trying different AP ,while still smoking up. Finally I had quit smoking and I miraculously went into remission since.

Alcohol brought me in a catastrophic mental state 20 years ago.

I’m not a hypochondriac. You must be referring to that person who claims he/she has SCZ and ASD. Yeah, right.

Indeed there is. Just don’t touch that poison…

Paranoia is a irrational fear. It is a common feature and symptom of schizophrenia. A hypochondriac has an irrational fear of medical issues. This is a specific kind of paranoia regarding medical issues.

Since you have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, you sit on the spectrum of paranoia different to that of general population. If you have paranoia then your propensity to skew towards hypochondria compared to gen pop is different. The logic holds true. Schizophrenics have hyperreflexivity amongst other things. Increased self monitoring ect. The nocebo effect in this subcategory is noticeable. That it obviously driven by hypochondria and paranoia. You are crazy to think that a lot of schizophrenics aren’t hypochondriacs. The logic holds true.

When I say within us all. I wasn’t accusing you directly, you are self referencing. You must either be grandiose or think that the comments hold special meaning to you.

If he/she were any dumber they would have to watered twice a week.

Good luck peon.

I think depression can be a cause of psychosis.

Isn’t there a type of psychosis called depressive psychotic episode

I personally think that’s what I have.

Though they don’t realise how depressed I am so they call it psychosis NOS. Which means unknown cause of psychosis

Oh I do really feel with you cause my mothers psychosis was triggeted by depression. I was more the manic type and I do regret some of the actions I took But my heart goes out to you and all those who battle depression and I hope that you’ll get better in time.

Pretty sure the movie “A scanner darkly” caused my psychosis. I was watching that movie like every other day leading up to my break. I was also doing a lot of psychedelics at the time thinking they would “fix” me. If you’ve seen the movie you can see what a divine comedy my life has been.

I thought hypochondriac meant someone who thinks they’re sicker than they are. You know? They look for more negativity to a degree that isn’t real.

When you said, “within us all,” you’re referencing everybody on the forum. So I responded.

BTW, there’s no need to refer to my intellectual capacity in a dimunitive manner. You shouldn’t insult another’s intelligence. Schizophrenia affects intelligence (speed of processing, poverty of thought/speech, thought disorganization, etc.) You making fun of the mentally ill is not cool. We’re supposed to support each other here, not insult each other.

Behcet’s syndrome can cause psychosis. I have it and believe my schizophrenia is connected to it like THIS article says.

You are poisioning the well with troll logic.

I will rationalise with you no longer.

No fighting. Leave it. We are all consumers and it’s not cool to press a point. Lets leave it be that it’s a misunderstanding. It’s late for me but lets move on don’t be so reactive. We are all vulnerable here.

Same here, especially religion

Illness anxiety disorder is a chronic mental illness previously known as hypochondria. People with this disorder have a persistent fear that they have a serious or life-threatening illness despite few or no symptoms.

Yep, I was right. Someone with Hypochondria or Illness Anxiety Disorder think they are sicker than they really are. They medically think they have an illness or severity that is not real. I actually heard the term “hypochondriac” from a South Park episode. They were spot-on with their use of the word, and I am spot-on correct.

I am not a Hypochondriac. Yes, I have Schizophrenia, but I accept the severity level; I don’t think I’m sicker than I am.

People with illness anxiety disorder – also called hypochondria or hypochondriasis – have an unrealistic fear that they have a serious medical condition or fear that they’re at high risk of becoming ill. They may misinterpret typical body functions as signs of illness.

Even after medical tests show no problems, people with hypochondriasis are still preoccupied with the idea that think they’re seriously sick. Their persistent health worries can interfere with their relationships, careers and life.

You may be more familiar with the term hypochondria or health anxiety. Healthcare providers now use the term illness anxiety disorder. People with illness anxiety disorder can’t control how they feel. Their fears are very real to them.

BOOM! Now you know what Hypochondria means. And why I am NOT a Hypochondriac.

How common is illness anxiety disorder?
Illness anxiety disorder (hypochondria) is extremely rare. It affects about 0.1% of Americans. It typically appears during early adulthood. Illness anxiety disorder can affect all ages and genders.

@AmICrazyYet says there’s “hypochondriac that is within us all”. WRONG! 0.1% of Americans have Hypochondria. Amazing what happens when you apply actual logic.

Social Threat Bias

Thanks for behaving and understanding.

That insight is about myself… in relation to my reactivity
