Opinion please. A poll

I’m having a really hard time falling asleep but I’m not sure how to solve it.

  • Take meds earlier
  • Go lie down even if I’m not tired
  • Start getting up earlier (not sure if I can)
  • Take morning meds earlier (have a few that help me stay awake)
  • No napping
  • Other suggestions

I would not recommend it but I take Lorazepam if I can’t sleep. :lion::lion::lion:

I have a hard time, too. I read now until I’ m sleepy. It helps. I also keep total darkness, it helps you make melatonin.

I steer clear of benzos. I take too much so I just removed them from my life. Sometimes I miss them.

I think your rest is important, ask your medical team.

Very important. I’ve had sleep issues my whole life.

Maybe you can ask your doctor if you can take them earlier.

I kind of snoozed the day away, and I’ll probably have a hard time getting asleep tonight.

I occassionally take a gravol or a cup of neocitran. That knocks me out sooner. I am going to drink some sleepytime tea tonight. I don’t like relying on other meds.

I have chronic insomnia so I consider myself a wealth of suggestions.

If it’s been less than a month of insomnia, try:

  1. Zero naps, no matter what
  2. Put away all screens an hour before bedtime
  3. Stay out of your bed unless you’re going to sleep or having “alone time”
  4. Stay as active as possible during the day
  5. When you go to bed, lie down and try to sleep right away. Don’t read in bed to wind down. Just lie right down and go to sleep.
  6. Wake up at the same time every day
  7. Go to sleep at the same time every night (within reason)
  8. If you can’t sleep after ten minutes or so, get up, go to another room, and read quietly in low light for ten minutes before lying down again.
  9. Try melatonin or another OTC sleep aid if you get up twice.

If you do ALL of that for two weeks straight and still can’t sleep:

  1. Nap whenever you can get it
  2. Ask for a prescription strength sleep aid
  3. Go for a sleep study to see if you may have a sleep disorder

In an emergency, if you camp, going camping for three days with no electronics can help reset your circadian rhythm

I can’t get up from off the ground because of my mobility issues. A cabin would be amazing

the key is not having access to bright light sources at night, or curtains to block the sun in the morning. You could accomplish the same thing at home by using candles and opening your bedroom curtains sand turning off your phone
