I am ready !! are you?
I’ve got to wrap my presents . I’ll do it tomorrow or Thursday. I’m not looking forward to it though.
Not really ready.
I have to pick up the last of the presents from the post office and then wrap them. Then I’m ready. Already got lots of presents under the tree
I’ve got a few presents left to wrap, I’ve got grocery shopping to do on Sunday, I want everything to be as fresh as possible (all the veggies and bread) But I have about 100 presents wrapped already and I have the ham and the pies already, I got them from Schwanns. I could go to the grocery store and pick up a few things that are not perishable but I don’t see the need really it will be fine to wait till Sunday. I’m not fussing too much, I think I’m pretty ready, heck I started in October.
The house is decorated, half my Christmas cards will be mailed tomorrow; I’m just trying to figure out the timing of when I should take the turkey out of the freezer to defrost in order for it to be ready to cook on Christmas Eve. The plan is to celebrate Christmas at my 36 year old nephews and his wife and twin girls house.
I’m not sure if I’m ready or not. We didn’t get Little LED anything and haven’t decided if we’re going to or not. We can’t really take gifts with us because we don’t have the luggage room to bring that much stuff back. Plus we’re pretty broke because of other stuff going on. Plus she’ll get a ton of gifts already on Christmas from her grandma, so it’s not like she’ll not be opening stuff. Ugh. I don’t know what to do. She’s too young to know any different and this will be her first Christmas anyways. I think the trip is her gift and my partner wants to get her something but can’t answer basic questions about when we’ll give it to her or what we would get her or anything like that. So we probably won’t get her anything. 🤷 It’s doing my head in thinking about it.
But other than that I have all the cousin’s gifts wrapped and they’re in the suitcase waiting to be padded with clothes. Need to pack and we’re all set!
Just finishing icing the cookies.
Tree is up, lights are up, decorations up.
Presents bought and wrapped.
Tamales bagged and in the freezer.
We are doing great.
Ready so far…
Tree is NOT lit. Had lots of light trouble and plan to get more lights tomorrow. Then we can decorate/ light it up. I lost my new tree skirt in the pile of presents in my closet. I’ll have to have hubby find it. I have about 30 presents to wrap, but both of my daughters have offered to help. I want to make cookies this weekend. We are also waiting to do dinner shopping until a couple of days before because we want prime rib, and we want it to be fresh. Oh- and I bought all the stocking stuffers today.
We had a family adopt us at the food pantry so we pick everything up on Thursday. We are able to scrape 50 bucks per kid for Xmas because this ended up being a 3 check month for John. So boys are pooling their money for a PS3 and a few games, that’s their 100. Raina just said surprise me…so we’re looking at a unicorn.onesie from Walmart for 20 bucks, and a giant pokemon stuffed, John knows which one, I can’t tell you anything about pokemon. They’ll all get 75 bucks at tax return time to order from Wish, so they have their ■■■■ picked out and on personalized lists, makes it easier that way. We don’t buy for anyone else, I mean, between my mom’s 3 gi ru ls (us) and stepdad’s 6kids that’s 9 adult kids, and 32 grandkids. No way to DVD o this. And my one sister has 5 kids aged 10 and under, but can’t afford them either. She gets my kids nothing either, so it’s just everyone do your family.
We’re not doing a lot… first year we are in CA and the apartment is kind of small for a tree. I bought my mom a small gift and bought myself something nice (that’s how I handle Christmas since getting sick) that I am just enjoying the heck out of. I know it might sound selfish but as long as I’ve spent prudently that year, I can swing a few hundred dollars for something awesome. It helps the holiday feel like Christmas and it helps fight seasonal depression… at least in my case.
I guess I don’t rely on family to get me gifts anymore because I’m an adult now, but I really got used to the tradition of receiving gifts on Christmas, and I still want to honor this by buying the gifts myself.
Sort of? Still need to wrap prezzies for the wife. Was hoping to do that this weekend, but now she wants to go visit relatives, which I’m trying to dodge as usual. Think there’s a bit of baking left to do.
I don’t celebrate Christmas, but i’m glad you’re all set and ready to go. I hope you have a lovely Christmas.
I gave out presents already.
We’re having a ham dinner at my aunt’s house and we can watch my nieces and nephew open a present or two. As time goes on the adults tend not to buy for each other as we just like getting together. My dad’s girlfriend for some reason goes all out on the present buying thing. Oh well. She has a good heart.
I tend to start buying at the end of summer. All year, I start making a list (and yes, I check it twice) about who wants what. I keep track of how much everything costs and monitor the kids’ interest in it as I get closer to buying. I make sure I spend the same-ish amount on each kid. But I put a lot of work into it.
@agent101g picked out all of my own presents, except for the ones my oldest daughter bought me and won’t tell me about. So I guess technically I bought my own, too. It’s kinda nice to anticipate opening it, even if I know what it is.
@ThePickinSkunk When I was a kid and we had big family Christmases, everyone bought a ton for the kids but only an item or two for each adult. It was nice. I miss that.
No not really. I dont do Xmas. I am spending about £100 quid on some decent food tho. Ill be hibernating in front of the tv with the heating up in my dressing gown.
