Olanzapine tachycardia

Does anyone know if Olanzapine can cause tachycardia (fast heart rate) ?

Does anyone else on Olanzapine here have a racing heart?

I haven’t got that exactly, but indirectly by causing weightgain and losing motivation to excersise it does affect the heart.

I had in when I was on 900 mg quetiapine but not at all on 800 mg of qutiapine. I cannot give you any advice to what you should do in regards to Clozapine as it had the King Status in the Class of antipsychotics.

You can get it. You want to work on having a strong slow heartbeat. A faint fast heartbeat can be dangerous. Keep weight down, moderate regular cardiovascular exercise, and lots of sleep with no exhaustion or over exertion.

yes it can. all the antipsychotics ending in “pine” can. they act on the Muscarinic receptors and those cause tachycardia. Olanzapine gave me tachycardia,. and so did seroquel, and clozapine.

When you got off clozapine did your tachycardia go away?

Sorry to ask. But are you drinking the odd can of beer or two on it?

Thats usually the number one cause, in my experience.

Drink plenty of water - it helps your red blood cells carry oxygen more efficiently, so your hearts not going like the clappers.

I’m on olanzapine, risperidone and citalopram (Celexa), and I have a resting heart rate of 100-113. Right now, I’ve been laying in bed for 3 hours and it’s 113.

Hey just curious how long were you on clozapine for?

I’m only it 10 years
I hope the tachycardia won’t be permanent

Something like 7-9 months. I doubt it will be permanent but long term tachycardia can mess up the heart muscle

my heart rate is on the low side when resting but even the tiniest physical activity and it races
