OK is this normal

My phone keeps regularly adding b or v onto my words. And underlining stuff on the rare occasion when I write notes.

It is annoying because it feeds into a delusion that my phone is hacked.

I do realise b and v are right next to the space bar.

Also had some other random additional letters and once a word.

I swear I can’t remember this happening before this autumn.

So annnoyinnn

You have a new profile pic!

And I honestly hope your phone isn’t hacked. That’s one of the reasons I like my iPhone. Feels secure.

I didn’t know that about I phones.

Yea I’m a bit bored at work.
Just messing about by editing photos with filters.

It probably isn’t hacked but who knows.

It’s probably a delusion.

When I was in the hospital in NY, I used my credit card to make calls and worried that they would ‘hack’ my credit card. When I was back in Belgium there was fraud on my card from the US for 800€ and this made me even more paranoid about this.
Luckily I have new cards now.

Wow that’s a lot of money. I hope you got your money back via the bank.

I got my money back. It was an order on Amazon US from a fraudulent account. I had to email Amazon they closed the account and confirmed it was fraud. Then I had to email the bank the email from Amazon and they refunded me the money.

It was a stressful experience. Now I’m more careful with using my credit card online.

I see you still have to come up with one. Maybe that can be your next mini project to find something appropriate.

Autocorrect creeps me out in general i wouldn’t worrying too much. if you are scared you can always backup your files and reset your phone

Thanks for the advice. It’s just weird because typically it adds v or b and I’ve never used to have this. And it doesn’t really autocorrect by adding v or b

Anyway resetting my phone via factory reset might be a good idea

Sometimes it adds m and sometimes n aswell.

It is a bit of a mind ■■■■

But I’m trying to assume it’s just me and the phone.

Just to put folks mind at ease, it typically is an added letter that is next to a letter I used on the keyboard. Just weird cos I can’t recall this sort of occurrence happening as much as it does now compared to a few months back

Did you drop your phone?

Probably more than once. Does that cause this kind of stuff?

It could…especially if your screen is cracked.

Hacking is no longer a nerdy toy. A hacker is a professional, a programmer. Noone will waste their time and effort to mess up letters in your editor app.

I know delusions just happen. I believe it’s still beneficial long term to challenge the delusions.

There are two main causes for the malfunction that you describe that I can think of.

First, is hardware related, like cdwithdcs described. It might be that the touch-screen is less than precise with detecting your input. I am not sure, but I suspect even room temperature might have an impact. Nevermind damage from dropping it. Overheating parts in the phone during charging for example can damage the screen.

Second is application tier problems that are unique for each application. This one is easy to rule out, simply install a different keyboard application. If you are paranoid, you can install a virtual keyboard application that focuses on security. I use the one from KeePass for Android.
