Yeah that makes sense. I’m lucky my sister has an apple tree at her house hah.
@crimby THAAD is deployed in the ROK which is what Russia and China object to because the radar system encroaches into Chinese territory.
Japan needs a missile defence system since the missile fired by the DPRK had flown over Hokkaido.
Japan is not allowed a military as drawn out in their constitution by the USA. The USA or someone else would have to give them missle defenses.
@anon1571434 The US has supplied Japan with PAC-3 missiles because of the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the US and Japan.
You’re right in that the constitution of Japan states that they cannot use force to settle international disputes.
I think it’s long past time Japan have their own military but…they haven’t had one for so long could they even do it?
I’ve gotten the impression that they plan to continue in reducing nuclear stockpiles, which is certainly encouraging. One thing that worries me, though, is that they are developing nukes that are much smaller than most of them were previously. This is positive in one regard, but it also means they are far more likely to use these nukes. They might launch a warhead meant just to take out a single complex, but I’m afraid the situation would quickly escalate. Once a nuke is used, the other side is sure to retaliate in kind, and I imagine that very soon they will be throwing big nukes back and forth. Nuclear war has to be unthinkable, in any guise. I’m afraid we’re stuck with that tired old doctrine of “mutually assured destruction”. It stinks, but it will keep the peace.
I’m toast from the EMP of a nuke detonation – this is not relevant to pacemaker wearers. I’d rather put my energy into problems I can affect the outcome of.
@anon1571434 Japan does have their own military. It’s just that they cannot engage in international warfare.
What is Trump & Abe going to do? That is the big question. They’re definitely have to respond. Emergency UN security council resolutions haven’t done anything to slow North Korea’s nuclear and missile development.
Their military is starting to stir again, which might make the rest of the orient nervous.
Well, I live close to North Korea state wise Between anchorage & Seattle . Even an attack in San Francisco would affect us
But nobody here talks about it. I’m not worried. Why worry? I don’t think anything will happen and if it does, then il find a way to survive. Nothing we citizens can do. It’s not gonna change my life any
@Mindboxed North Korea can’t strike the US Mainland which is why they were aiming for Guam. The DPRK ICBM launches on July 4th and July 28th had rocket engines that came from either the Ukraine or Russia. I wouldn’t worry about the DPRK. Their mentality is still stuck in the Cold War which has been over for almost 30 years.
Oh dont ever look at a blast… unless you want the most beautiful golden blind eyes…
