I had an hour long zoom meeting last night with a psychiatric nurse practitioner to establish care in our new area…
Anyways- after intake, she tells me she believes I have bipolar with psychotic features… not schizophrenia or schizoaffective.
Not sure what to think honestly. If it’s true, I feel like the last 7.5 years of my life have kind of been a lie in a sense… lol
I still continue the Abilify 20mg…
I guess like a lot of people on here say, “the diagnosis doesn’t matter as long as you’re getting the right treatment”

A nurse isn’t a doctor.
Well when I googled it afterwards, it says psychiatric nurse practitioners can diagnose.
Idk

That’s scary.
Will you be seeing a doctor eventually?
By doctor, do you mean psychiatrist….?
I don’t think they offer psychiatrists through the place I was referred to….
Pretty sure I have never been seen by a psychiatrist…

Yeah I have one psychiatrist who says I have major depression disorder with psychotic symptoms, and I have another that says I have schizoeffective, and these two can’t agree. So they treat the symptoms. I really could care less about my diagnosis.

Do you agree with the new diagnosis?

Sounds about right @Natron
I had one person tell me it’s schizophrenia, another say it’s bipolar and PTSD (way wrong) another tell me it’s schizoaffective bipolar type and this last one bipolar with psychotic features…
Hah.
I’m not sure…
I do think I at least have schizoaffective bipolar type…
Just kind of taken aback to hear her say bipolar with psychotic features.
